I've finally figured out how to zigzag!

StampFairy are sponsoring my old teamies at One Stop Craft Challenge so I'm joining in as a guest designer for their challenge which starts today.  This was a bit of a rushed card as I was running late, but using pink as my main colour motivated me quite a bit!  The theme is 'new beginnings' so I've made a little baby girl card.  I've also managed to figure out how to do a zigzag stitch on my sewing machine. I think it hides my wonky stitching around the circle better than a straight stitch has been doing!  I do seem to stupidly keep picking these awkward shapes!

A hint of pink ...

There is a new release and freebie today at StampFairy and it's Herb Ribbons today. I've made another little gift tag all in pink.

I'm not sure that Herb is too sure about all this pink that's surrounding him.  But since he's carrying the 'think pink' breast cancer awareness ribbon, and he's wearing a pair of fairy wings, I'm afraid it just had to be done!

Sorry Herb!

    Charming

Assuming all goes well (I'm not sure what happened to last week's challenge) the theme today at Lili's Little Fairies is "Charming" and I've got yet another Christmas card to share.  This one was made for a customer so the sentiment is a custom one that I've made myself.

His requirements were to use his wife's favourite things; fairies, hearts (I managed to get 4 on there!), glitter, pink and the sentiment that he'd requested.   Plus I managed to also get on some snowflakes, ribbon, bow, pearl brad, flowers, pearls, gems and a home-made pin.

    Phew.

That's a whole lotta stuff for one lickle card!

    Double Trouble with Barry Bear

Despite it being January, it's Christmas every week at the ABC Christmas Challenge.  The theme this fortnight is an easy "A for Animal". We're being sponsored by Stampfairy and I've made 2 more circle step cards, both using Stampfairy's Barry bear. I've coloured him in grey for the first card, and brown in the second for some variation.  I don't usually colour Barry in brown, but he looks cute (and a bit younger!) so he may be brown more often now!

And here's my second card, without the snowflake dies; just an embossed circle step card, two trees and my image.  Oh and a spot of snow!  Simples !!!

    Bicycle Bunny

The theme today at Top Tip Tuesday is Fur or Feathers.  I've made a little gift-tag for my FIL who likes cycling, but I'm not sure whether the basket of flowers in the bunny's basket makes it a bit feminine!!!  I'll have to have a think about this one before I give it to him!

Perhaps I should have laid off the Stickles too!

Hopefully he's in touch with his feminine side.

    Tilly with (huge) Rose

This is a Springtime card to cheer me up while the days are still short and dark.  This one features Tilly the dog with a HUGE rose.  I've kept it kind of simple, but used an oversize sentiment which I think matches the huge image too.

Hope you like my spring fresh card.

China Girl - and a Freebie "Competition"

Ok, before I get onto my "competition", I've got a card to share first.   The Stamp Basket is now stocking some Saturated Canary stamps and I've got this gorgeous girlie to share with you today.  This was the first non-Christmas card that I've made this year, and I really loved it when I'd finished it.  I love the lilac colours and pretty papers.

The flowers were a Christmas pressie from my lovely TTT and ABC Xmas teamie Samantha (thank you honey, I think they are perfect for this card).

The pearls in the corner were originally white, but I coloured them with one of my copics (G24) so that they matched my card.  I also coloured the pearl in the middle of my brad which holds on my bow.

As it was one of my new year's resolutions, I've also taken the time to do some stitching on my card (and then regretted it as I manoeuvred around the first part of the fancy shaped card base!!! LOL).  But overall, I'm really pleased with the finished card.  Hope you like her too.

    Freebie Competition:

Well it's been a while since I created any new sentiments, (see all my previous freebies here).   To be honest, I've been very lazy recently and just typed most of my sentiments recently, although I have made a couple of personalised ones for some special recipients, but I can't give those away since they're only suitable if you're making a card for a person with the same name !!! LOL

Anyhoo, I'm going to try to make a few new sentiments, and I'm looking for new ideas.

And that's where I need your help....

Perhaps you can think of a seasonal, topical, or just plain sweet sentiment that you'd like to see in print.  But what I'd like is something that I can share with everyone, so not too restrictive.

So, if you have any great ideas, leave them in a comment on this post, and if it grabs my interest, then I'll make it, and share it on my blog for you (and everyone else who's interested) to grab.

I'll be honest and admit that the circle shaped sentiments are my favourite, and I can get about 3 to 4 words (top arc, middle banner, bottom arc) on those, so get your thinking caps on.

If you think your sentiment would be suitable on a different shape, then you can add that suggestion too, but I'm more likely to pick something that will be useful to lots of my readers, so things that can be easily cut out, even if they don't have matching die shapes.

So, what do you need to do? ...
    1. Leave your suggestions as comments on this post,
    2. Ensure you're a follower of my blog,
    3. Spread the word on your own blog if you have one (using the badge below and a link back to this post on your sidebar), and
    4. Don't forget to check back at the end of the month to see if your idea has been picked.
    Simples !
There is no limit on the number of suggestions you can make, so pop back later in the month if you think of something else, and perhaps you'll see your idea in 'ink'!

I'm also not going to restrict the 'winners' list, and I will choose as many suggestions that tickle my fancy!

Have fun getting sentimental with me!!!

I look forward to seeing your ideas.

    Up in the Air

StampFairy are sponsoring the Friday Sketch Challenge today and I've made a card using the sketch.  I usually prefer digis to rubber (I only have a few rubber stamps, except for my vast (and still growing) collection of LOTV images), but rubber does make a nice change from the digis, and this character looks like Toby who is one of my favourite StampFairy characters.

I'm also still keeping up my new year's resolution to do stitching on my cards.  So far, so good!  I wonder how long it will last!

And here's the sketch that I followed:

    Toboggan for Two

The theme today at Lili's Little Fairies is to use two backing papers and although Christmas is over, I'm sharing a card that I didn't have chance to post during the holidays.

I made it for a lovely lady who'd asked me to make Christmas cards for both her daughters and her husband.  And then her husband contacted me separately asking me to make one from him to his wife as she liked my cards so much.  So, because between them, the whole family was going to be receiving one of my cards, I decided to send the whole family a card from me, so I popped this one in their parcel!

    I hope they liked it!!

I made the sentiment in Microsoft Word by slightly overlapping text boxes with their names in different fonts and colours until they fitted into the shape I needed to be able to use my Bistro Label die.

    Let's Celebrate

    HAPPY NEW YEAR

Stampfairy are sponsoring Creative Inspirations where the theme this week is 'Celebrations'.  It's also the mid-way point of our 'Zoo Animals' challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge so I'd thought that I'd make a card that combines both challenges.

    2012 draws to a close ...

Well it's been a busy busy busy crafting year, but just as I did last year, I wanted to finish off the year with a special post documenting my year, and sharing a few of my favourite creations from the past twelve months.

    A year in review :

I've been honoured to be part of some amazing design teams and have made some lovely friends both in my fellow teamies as well as some of our regular participants.

I needed to cut down my DT commitments last December due to work commitments, but seven months later I was more settled again and was amazed to be asked by Jacqui to join the Lili's Little Fairies team.  This was shortly followed by my Top Tip Tuesday co-ordinator and blog pal Samantha convincing me that the only way I was going to get my Christmas creations organised was to join her ABC Christmas design team.

Thank you girlies for loving my creations enough to want me on your fab teams.

In September I was honoured to be invited by the lovely Janet to guest design for her shop The Stamp Basket.  Her shop sells loads of my favourite crafting goodies like dies, stamps, embellishments, gorgeous ribbons as well as some stuff that I'd been wanting for ages like pearl brads which I now use on nearly all my creations (you may have noticed!!!).

I've also guest designed for a few challenges throughout the year, but a special mention also goes out to my lovely pal Chris and her team at Incy Wincy.  Despite me having to give up being a full time teamie at the end of 2011 due to increased pressures in my day job (the one that pays for my crafting addictions!!), she's continued to allow me to guest design on occasions this year.  Thank you so much honey for letting me play along with you guys.

Finally I've like to thank you for following and visiting my blog, reading my regular drivel and leaving me such wonderful comments. I read every single one and love knowing what you think of my creations.  I also like to visit as many fellow bloggers as I can manage to know what you're getting up to, what creations you have to share, and what tips and inspiration you have taken the trouble to share with us.

    Thank you to you all.

You make this blog worthwhile and I'm grateful for every single visitor (except for those anonymous spam ones who keep leaving me messages about where I might like to purchase Viagra or plastic business cards!).

    Warning :
I'm finishing off with a plethora of pictures being my favourite cards and creations from the past year.   I'd planned to restrict my choices to just 1 per month, trying to show my journey of crafting experiments and (hopefully) improvements over the last 12 months, but as per last year, I've been unable to restrict myself to just one per month.

Hope you bear with me while I share some of my favourites.

    Happy New Year

Hope to see you all again in 2013.

    January 2012

I've always liked shaped cards, cute bears and the colour pink.  Therefore this has to be my top pick for January.

    February 2012

In February I made this super-size tag, and immediately regretted doing the stitching around the fancy shape.  I liked it when I'd finished it, but the stitching was a bit wobbly in places.

    March 2012

In March I used this cute Stampfairy image of (one of) my favourite bears, Jake.  I just love his expression and huge nose!  (he might feature again yet before the year is out!!!).  I was also experimenting with pencil colouring with Sansodor oil for blending.

    April 2012

In April I made this adorable bag (which I haven't yet been able to part with yet) using Stampfairy's Toby bear.

    May 2012

May was a bit of a LOTV month, with these two cuties on card bases shaped with Grand Nesties dies.  Both cards also use one of my earliest freebie sentiments.

And I'm sneaking another Stampfairy Toby card in. I loved the shape, colour and simplicity of this baby card.  Again the card base was cut from a die, this time from Go Kreate.

    June 2012

June saw me get a bit adventurous with these two 'timely' creations (get it?  *groan*).

And yes, it's Stampfairy's Jake again in both projects!

And I did manage to get a couple of Tilda cards in this year, although not as many as I'd have liked.  These two were two of my favourites, where I'd used lovely papers, and taken the trouble to do some stitching (one of my NY resolutions is to do more stitching)

    July 2012

This was one of my favourite Christmas cards this year, the papers are ones that I've useed often, and of course it's the adorable James bear from LOTV.

    August 2012

August appears to be another LOTV month through and through.
I ventured making another giant shaped tag (minus the stitching this time!) ...

    ... a baggie with a matching card ...

... and an altered hanging wooden plaque which is currently hanging on my wall for Christmas.  (Although I was planning on giving it away as a gift, in the end I couldn't bear to part with this one.)

    September 2012

A couple more baggies with matching cards, but this time I made the baggies too rather than just decorating shop bought ones !!!

    October 2012

In October I was off the baggies and back on the cards (and getting addicted to Tiddly Inks).

    November 2012

It was about November that I realised that I'd got nowhere near enough Chrimbo cards, and the panic started to set in ...

    December 2012

Yeah, I know I'm hopelessly failing on the one card per month task.

But I've started, so I'll finish, and if you're still with me, I promise that this is the last month ....

Thanks for staying with me through my trawl of highlights from 2012.
I hope to see you all in 2013.
Happy new year and happy crafting to you all.
    Annette
    xx
