Even the fussy cutting wasn't easy, as half way round I decided that my knife must be blunt, because it was dragging the thick watercolour paper. So the bird nearly lost part of his beak.
Once it was cut out, my original plan for the layout went out of the window, and I probably spent as long fumbling around trying to find a new layout that I was happy with than I'd spent colouring the image in the first place (which was quite a long time!).
Anyway, after 2 different shaped cards, 3 different paper pads, and the potential for a die cut oval background for my girlie to stand on, I actually followed a sketch that I found, and this was the result:
Card Recipe:
- Image - All Dressed Up Autumn Leaves from Funky Kits
- Colouring - Distress Ink Reinkers
- Maja Design Papers
- The Langton watercolour paper
- Stazon Ink Pad
- Go Kreate Frilly Frames nested die
- Embossalicious Floral Embossing Folder
- Aqua satin ribbon
- Flat Backed Pearls

This is lovely Nettie and honestly, you would never know this card spelled 'trouble'. I love this little gal cutout on this layout... I think it is perfect!
Love your shaped card and you have a beautifully coloured sweet image!
Well worth the agony!! It'a a gorgeous card and the image is adorable. Beautifully coloured too. Hugs, Carol S.xx
What a wonderful card with an equally enjoyable write-up! I always appreciate honesty in the art world because it makes me feel better to know that I'm not the only one who hot-glues her fingers together (metaphorically speaking)! All I can say is I feel your pain, but your efforts were not wasted! Thanks for not giving up because the card you ended up with is absolutely charming! I love how you made the card itself in a unique shape and the girl's expression and how you've positioned her facing the bird is priceless! It made me smile and I'm so glad you shared your talents (and stories of triumph) with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!
Definitely worth the hassle I'd say and the paper is a perfect find Annette. What a gorgeous stamp too and I'm so pleased the bird kept it's beak!! xx
Ahhh it was worth all the trouble ! Lovely image and gorgeous colouring. Love your card.

I'm glad you managed to salvage this little cutie and her bird friend complete with beak - she looks fab on this CAS design - like it was planned all along!
Big hugs, Kat xx
It may have been a long way around and not the layout you planned... but it's STILL gorgeous and if you'd have never told us, we'd have never known.... we would just have seen a beautiful card!
Big hugs

Thank you for sharing at my "new and cute" theme at Allsorts, good luck;-))m
At least the end result is gorgeous! Wouldn't think a little cutie like her could cause so much trouble, but appearances can be very deceptive! I like the shape and background embossing too! Thanks for joining us at Sweet Stampin' this week.
