Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it baby

I decided to make a shaker card; a style that I've not made for a while, but a challenge had caught my eye and motivated me to have another try.

So after a bit of pondering, I drafted out my design, printed out some text in fancy fonts, and die cut a trio of circles using a circle nestie.

I then spent ages carefully sticking 3D foam pads around each circle to create the pocket, avoiding any gaps that the pesky beads could slip through.

When I was done sticking, I sat back from concentrating hard on the teeny foam pads, and admired the neatness and lack of gaps.

That was the point where I noticed that in my keenness to get the pads on without any spaces, I'd left the biggest 'hole' of all, because I'd forgotten to add the acetate first.

So it was back to the drawing board to start again.

Panda Paul Shaker Card

The theme this week at Stamp Fairy is sh-sh-sh-shaker cards!!! (I was trying there to give the impression of some maracas being shaken???!!!)  Ok, moving swiftly on ... Here's my little shaker card featuring Panda Paul and Pauline in love.  My shaker elements are little punched hearts in pink, but I notice some of the other girls on the team have used tiny seed beads which is a great idea.  I've found glitter is not so great, as static on the acetate seems to make it 'stick' to the front.

As the design is quite thick with the shaker box, I didn't add any further thickness with embelishments other than some lovely papers and a little nestie frame (couldn't resist a nestie).  However, now that I've finished it, I'm a bit worried that I left it a bit too simple?  What do you think?

By the way, if any of you are nervous about creating a shaker card, or don't have a pre-made shaker box, the pop over to the Stamp Fairy tutorials as there is a little help over there on how to make your own shaker box card.

I look forward to seeing your shaker card creations on the Stamp Fairy challenge blog, and please pop over to see the wonderful creations by the other members of the design team.
