Bella Sitting on a Pile of Presents

This is my final card for the Stamp Basket as it's shutting its doors at the end of this month. It's been lovely to showcase the gorgeous images, dies and papers for Janet, and I really do appreciate the opportunity she gave me to help promote her store.

But all good things come to an end, so I'm ending with a sweet image of Bella on a Pile of Presents.

The Wild Rose Studio images have been some of my favourites in the store, so I thought I'd end with one!  Bella's on sale at the moment, along with loads of other crafty items.

Don't forget that the store closes in a couple of weeks, so pop over there quickly to grab some final bargains.  There are discounts of up to 50% on some items to clear the stock before the final day.  All the details are here.

Pink & Purple Bella

I've got a sweet little Bella image to share today, in a pastel pink and purple colour scheme.  I was a bit worried that the colours wouldn't work, but I actually quite like them.  The image and papers are both in the Stamp Basket closing down sale, along with lots of other bargains.  :0)

Rosie Rabbit

The pretty papers are the inspiration for this card, so I've carried them into the image and embellishments.

Pink and blue are definitely my two favourite colours, and although I've never really thought of them as a Christmas duo, they do seem to work quite well.

I've used a lovely corner die, but the snow flourish die didn't seem to fit very well, so I've chopped bits off and popped them under the image, peeking out to the side.

Initially I actually thought the image was for a birthday, but then I saw the poinsettia, so I've ensured the festive theme is clear with the Christmas sentiment and snowflake die cuts.

And I've got some sad news, because The Stamp Basket is closing down at the end of October.   There is a closing down sale, so if you want to grab a crafty bargain, then pop over to the sale, but be quick, because once it's gone, it's gone for good!

Christmas Tree

Anyone would think it's less than 3 months until Christmas because I've got another festive make to share today.  It's Annabelle again with a seasonal red and green colour scheme.

Have a Bella Blue Christmas

Today's card features Bella the heffalump (and friend) in a frosty blue themed Christmas card.  The papers and dies are also Wild Rose Studio and I've layered each panel onto silver mirri card (although it looks black in the piccy).

Hanging Gifts

It's another festive Christmas day today with a card featuring Annabelle from Wild Rose Studio.  I've coloured the image to match the papers which are from the First Edition Nordic Christmas kit, and decorated it with a couple of die cuts in snow white card.

Geekin' It

Today's card is one of my favourites for a long time.  My favourite colours, beautiful Maja Design papers, a simple layout and I was quite pleased with my colouring (I've been practising 'blond' again!)

Bluebell with Robin

I'm back in Christmas mode again with a lovely image of Bluebell and some Nitwit papers.  These papers are really great quality thick card so I tend to use them on square cards which are easier to cut to shape.

I've also used a summery die, but since it included birdies which seemed to match the robin, I hoped they were versatile enough for me to get away with it!  A snowflake die and a 'Merry Christmas' sentiment sealed the deal.

Red & White Christmas

It's another Wild Rose Studio hat-trick day today with image, papers and dies from their new releases.  I've added some rich red satin ribbon which brings out the red in the image, although I've tried to colour the image quite softly with my DI reinkers.

Bella Birthday

I wouldn't say that yellow is a colour I would usually opt for, but it seemed to go quite well with the blues on the papers, so it inspired me to try it on an image.  I picked a fun birthday image of Bella on Presents and matched it with some gorgeous yellow satin ribbon.

Frosty Penguin

The pretty papers inspired the colour theme of today's festive card, featuring again a hat-trick of Wild Rose Studio stash.  The image is Girl and Penguin, the papers are Frosted Lace and the dies are Holly Flourish and Frosty Corner.

Bear and Kittens

It's Friday again (it feels a long time coming this week for some reason) and to get me in the mood for the weekend I've used my favourite colour and an image of a bear and kittens.

In my honest opinion you can't generally go wrong with either teddies or kittens, so by incorporating both in one place (with a small splattering of pink) surely that is a perfect recipe to get the weekend off to a great start, right?

Be careful where you put that bauble

I'm back to my old fussy style with today's card, and it's another festive number featuring one of the new Wild Rose Studio images.  I've water-coloured it with my DI reinkers adding a smidgeon of glossy accents on the baubles.  It's another hat-trick because as well as the image and papers, I've also used one of WRS's new dies too; a pretty lacy snowflake tucked behind the image.

Teddy with Gerbera

It's official:  I adore these Maja Design papers.

I've used some of the soft pink papers from my Vintage Summer Basics Paper Pad and used the same shades of pink in my image.

I decided to stitch the panels, (note to self - think twice about cutting a circle shape if you're going to stitch them) and added some white pearls and a couple of white floral die cuts.  I also used some of the backing papers as the solid piece behind my Arianna Sprig die to make it stand out against the white background.

Christmas in August

I have a cute Christmas Bluebell image to share today.  I have cut a nestie shape into the middle of my backing paper before sticking the leftover 'frame' onto my card base.  I then matted the smaller cut-out shape onto deep red card and stuck it back directly over the uncovered area on the card base.

This technique only uses one piece of designer paper, but it creates a kind of frame that I quite like.

Simple and economical! :0)

Geekin' It

Oh my word, I'm in love with these Maja Design papers called Coffee in the Arbour.  They are soooo my colours and I love the muted tones.  I coloured the image to match the papers and used lilac backing card to matt the layers.  I also used some of the paper to paper piece my Arianna Sprig die.

I love the stitched look around the panels which I think creates a bit of a vintage look and I rounded two of the corners around the image to soften it up a bit more.

I'm also getting into blonds at the moment, which makes a change from my usual brunettes.  I used E51, E53 and E31, but created some darker strands with a bit of DI Old Paper, so it's a real bit of mix and match!

Pink Bella

I'm in love with my new Vintage Summer Basics papers from Maja Design.  The whole pad is full of gorgeous pinks and blues.  I'm definitely going to be using this pad a LOT.

I've teamed them with my cute Bella Sitting on a Pile of Presents and stitched all the panels in a bid to match the vintage feel of the papers.

Secret confessions of a crafter

I'll share today's card, and then let you into a little secret. (I'm sure some of you already do what I'm going to confess to, but if not, it may be a little tip!)

I love colour coordinating my embellishments, and try to pick a minor colour from the papers.  In this case I wanted to pull out the blue from the flowers.  The blue didn't seem to catch the eye on the papers, so I wanted to highlight them with the embellishments.

I used some vintage style ribbon which was the perfect shade and also coloured the flowers in my image and sentiment in the same shade.

But I came a bit unstuck when it came to the matting card behind the image and middle paper panel.  Hunting through my 'blue' paper drawer (yes I have drawers for each colour of card!) everything was either too aqua or too dark.

So I cheated improvised.  Here's the result ....

So here's the tip:

I cut the matting layers from white card, and then coloured a strip around each edge with the wide nib of a blue copic.   I used the same blue as I'd used in the image, but then toned it down a bit using W3 grey on top, because it was otherwise a bit brighter than the blues in the papers.

The following pics were taken before adding the grey, but the photo of the finished card above was taken afterwards.  Hopefully you can see it is a bit more muted and matches the ribbon and papers better.  I did the same for the panel around the image, and the sentiment.

Whilst I've got your attention, the new Wild Rose Studio Christmas papers and dies have been released and are on the Stamp Basket website with a special offer of 10% off for all pre-rders placed this weekend only.  Pop over there to grab your discount before the end of the weekend.

Heartfelt thanks

I'm back on a clean and simple streak today, but it seemed appropriate for the theme, so I don't feel like I'm twitching from the overwhelming need to sprinkle it with embellishments!

The image was quite large, and I kept lots of white space around it to ensure it remained the focus.  The sentiment is a die cut from white card which I coloured to match the green I'd used in the image.

In keeping with the C&S style, I used simple candy striped papers which were the same colour as the flowers.

For a smidgeon of embellishment I stitched around the image panel to create a bit of interest.

And, erm, that's it.

Another Quick and Easy Fairy

This is my second card using the new Rowan Fairy kit.  The kit is great for a quick cards.   I've used a different pre-coloured topper this time, and teamed her with pink papers from the same Antique Library papers that I used on Monday.

The kit also contains the ribbon, brad and card base.  I've added a die cut and some sparkle for her wings and lantern.

And don't forget the new Wild Rose Studio images are released, and are on pre-order at The Stamp Basket.

But brace yourself, they are CUTE.

Just take a peek at these .....
