Pink Wings

I've got some exciting news today because I can tell you that I'm joining Christine's Pink Ladies over at In The Pink.  I'm only a part time member as I'm sharing the role with the super talented Squirrel, so we'll take it in turns to tease you with our creations, but as this is our first week we both have something we hope will inspire you to join in the challenge.

This fortnight, it's an easy one - Fly Away (Wings). So pick up your inks and create something which fits that theme, fairies, birds, flutterflies or even bugs if that floats your boat (I'm not so keen on the bugs in real life, but they're ok in cute form!).

I've chosen a Saturated Canary fairy for my sample card, and although there is a lot of yellow, there is definitely an overdose of the pink stuff!

AND ... I get one of these :
(thank you Christine!!!)

Congratulations

Just a quickie today with a CAS card to celebrate a colleague's recent exam success.  The image is quite appropriate as it actually resembles the intended recipient!  I hope she likes it! :0)

You're the Rainbow after the Storm

Welcome to April, and with it, no doubt, April Showers, which brings us onto the subject of the new challenge at Without Words Challenge this month is 'umbrellas', so fairly apt then!

I've printed my Saturated Canary image quite large (this is a 6x6 size card) and the layouts don't come more CAS than this!

I've stitched the image panel onto purple card and popped it onto a square card blank.

And that's it!

I have used a bit (ok, quite a lot) of Wink of Stella on my girlie's umbrella and the water puddle to give them a smidgen of sparkle.

Pixie Dust Cloud

Today's card is a lesson in reminding me to choose my papers before I start colouring my image. Instead I sailed straight into the colouring and only when I'd finished did I wonder what papers I might be able to use!

After going through all my paper pads, I eventually settled on one which seemed to match the colours and, although it is quite a 'busy' paper, it didn't seem to be too attention grabbing which might detract from the image.

The fairy dust clouds are actually much more glittery than they look in the photo as I smothered them in Wink of Stella and they really do sparkle.

I trimmed the base of the rather large image panel with my new stitched hillside border die and added two shades of sheer organza ribbon, tied in a bow and topped off with a small button, and a trio of pearls.

I hope you like it:

Little Angel

Considering I don't usually like green much, it seems to have made a bit of an appearance today!

The design is uber CAS, and I've made the image large to fill quite a bit of the space.  I also used one of my new digi sentiments from Digi Stamp Boutique.

Despite the green, I quite like how this one turned out.

I hope you do too.  :0)

Tinkerbell

This card is for my neighbour, who has a fondness for fairies and the colour purple.

Since I've been using my Copics a lot lately, I decided to get out my DI reinkers and do some watercolour painting!  This card is the result.  Unfortunately I didn't quite let the base coat dry before adding the folds detail on the dress, so it looks a bit wispy, but maybe it suits the fairy image?

The papers are some of my favourites at the moment, and I've had a bit of a purple theme going on this weekend (others to share another day).  I've also popped on a personalised sentiment.

Card Recipe:
  • Image - Saturated Canary Little Darlings Fairy Wishes Rubber Stamp
  • Typed Sentiment (Wendy Medium font)
  • Colouring - Distress Ink Reinkers
  • Cardworks Card base
  • Maja Design Papers - Coffee in the Arbor
  • The Langton watercolour paper
  • Stazon Ink Pad
  • Pearls

Geekin' It

Today's card is one of my favourites for a long time.  My favourite colours, beautiful Maja Design papers, a simple layout and I was quite pleased with my colouring (I've been practising 'blond' again!)

Geekin' It

Oh my word, I'm in love with these Maja Design papers called Coffee in the Arbour.  They are soooo my colours and I love the muted tones.  I coloured the image to match the papers and used lilac backing card to matt the layers.  I also used some of the paper to paper piece my Arianna Sprig die.

I love the stitched look around the panels which I think creates a bit of a vintage look and I rounded two of the corners around the image to soften it up a bit more.

I'm also getting into blonds at the moment, which makes a change from my usual brunettes.  I used E51, E53 and E31, but created some darker strands with a bit of DI Old Paper, so it's a real bit of mix and match!

Summer Holiday

The new theme at Crafty Little Fairies this month is Summer Fun, and the first thing that came to mind with that theme was holidays!

Hmm, that may be some wishful thinking as it's a few weeks until I have any time off.

And unfortunately I am not going anywhere which requires the level of packing of this little lady.

Still, holidays are holidays, and the lack of a booking to an exotic location doesn't stop me counting down the weeks.

Geekin' It (and a January Sale)

Today's card is another one made with someone special in mind, although to be honest it's probably more my style than hers, and I'm not entirely sure she likes pink as much as I do.  Whoops!

The theme is a bit book-worm-ish, although they're meant to relate to the recipient's job (she's an accountant) rather than paperbacks.  I was trying really hard to get the colouring right, and was doing ok until I got to her boots, where I seem to have changed the light source from the front, to then coming from both the left and right at the same time.  Shhh, don't tell anyone and I'm sure they won't notice!

The stamp was a gift from my lovely friend Samantha, but I know she won't like that I've tarnished it with all this pink!  ;0)  Thank you Samantha, she's lovely.

Also don't forget there's still a massive SALE at the Stamp Basket.  Lots of new discounts have been applied yesterday, so pop over there to stock up while the prices are slashed.  It'll keep your craft stash topped up so you can keep busy in the dark and dingy months!  :0)

Candy Stripes

The theme today at Crafty Little Fairies is Candy Stripes.  Well, I'll admit that I'm not a huge stripe fan, but I do quite like these cute little candy stripes in red and white.  I've got stripy bakers twine, and also red and white striped candy on my image, as well as some stripy clothing on my little girlie elf.

I'm on C&S duty again today, I quite like this style, it's so quick to assemble! :0)  I tied glassy beads onto the ends of my bakers twine and let them dangle onto the card.  The sentiment is typed in a new font that I have called "Wendy Medium".

Winter Wishes

The theme today at ABC Christmas Challenge is 'Winter Wishes'.  I've used Sabrina from our sponsor, Saturated Canary which is not a winter image, but I've coloured her in frosty colours and used my lovely Silent Night papers (again!).

Hmm, I admit that she might not exactly be dressed for winter, but hopefully no-one will pick up on the fact that she might be a bit chilly in that skimpy dress!  A scarf, hat and gloves might not go amiss.

That's probably an age 'thing' though, because I remember when I was younger going out into town for a night out with my pals dressed in similar attire, even if the paths were covered in frost.  The youngsters still go out in their skimpy frocks, whereas now I would wear more to go to bed!!

I layered all of my Silent Night paper panels onto shimmer kraft coloured card, wrapped around some textured white wool and added some white pearls.

I seem to be on a C&S drive with my Christmas projects at the moment (take a look at Monday's post for C&S extreme) but I might need to have an embellishment frenzy tomorrow to make up for it!!   :0)

George

I've got a just for fun project to share today.  This one's a gift for a colleague who's wife has just had a baby boy.  It's a decorated chipboard hanger for the little one's room.

I've kept it free of fancy embellishments since I'd be likely to adding flowers and pearls, and those pesky boys don't seem to appreciate such girly stuff.  I don't know what's wrong with them personally!

Even without the embellies, the hubster still reckoned it was too cute.

The papers were a candy win from the lovely Anne (thank you honey, the cute little animals are perfect for a baby project).

I used three different colours of the same design papers and covered the joins with some ribbon.  The sentiment was typed in a fancy font and then cut out into little tags which I placed behind the circular image and stuck in place before layering the image onto some green card to match the ribbon.  I then threaded some sheer green organza ribbon through the holes to create the hanger.

Here's a close up of the image and sentiment:

While I've got your attention there is a special offer on certain Crafter's Companion Stamps over at the Stamp Basket for one week (ends next Sunday). Pop over there to grab a bargain!

Patches the Fairy

The theme today at ABC Christmas Challenge is R for Recipe, which is 3 papers, 2 ribbons and 1 image.  I've used my lovely frosty Silent Night papers (again!) matted onto silver mirror card (again!).

I printed my image in pale grey but I still find this 'no lines' technique really hard, and I don't think I did the gorgeous hair of my fairy image proper justice.

These are a few of my favourite things (with a small splash of pink)

The theme today at As You Like It Challenge is your favourite Shaped Cards (not a square) and if you visit often, then you'll know that I really love shaped cards.  But I've been hankering after a particular Go Kreate die for quite a while, umming and ahhing whether to indulge myself.  So I decided that this challenge could be the perfect excuse reason to treat myself.  And so I did!!!   And I LOVE it.  I think it's gonna get a LOAD of use.

This card is also a 'sorry I missed your birthday' card for a lovely blogging pal who has a bit of a penchant for pink.

So prepare to be overdosed in pink, with a small splash of pink for good measure.

This really is my kind of card; lots of pink (oh yeah baby!!) a cute girlie image, a bit more pink, gorgeous satin ribbon, a smudge more pink, some sparkles (gem brad, shimmer watercolouring, glossy accents), and some flowers.

I've also used some of my all-time favourite papers from Papermania's Lucy Cromwell pad, but unfortunately with all the 'stuff' I've added, you can hardly see them.  They're embossed and glittered, but only sneak through in the corners.  :0(     Trust me though, they're GORGEOUS (and pink)   :0)

Acetate Aqua Anniversary

The theme today at Top Tip Tuesday is to make something which includes items which begin with your initials.  So my letter is "A" and at first I struggled to think of anything beginning with the letter A, but my teamies helped me out with a whole host of a's, including anniversary and acetate, so that's what I used.   I also used the colour aqua, which makes 3 a's !!

I created a step card, and folded a 'tent' of acetate over it.  (shamelessly cased from a gorgeous Christmas creation that I found on Sonia's Crafty Patch). Although you can't see it too well in the photo, the back panel of the acetate is embossed with a vine embossing folder.  I used pale aqua papers to make the background look like sky, and used some grass and tree die cuts to create an outdoors scene.

Because it is an anniversary card, I also added a couple of heart borders, one hanging down from the acetate at the top fold, and the other on one of the steps.  The image is called 'roses are red' and kind of fits in with the love theme of my anniversary card.

Hope you like it.  Acetate is so hard to photograph and not get a shine reflecting from the lamp or camera flash!  This is the best shot I managed to get of it!

Lovely

Today I've got a JFF card to share, using the gorgeous new image from Saturated Canary.  I'm not sure I've done here complete justice with my painting skills, but I wanted to try painting her with my distress reinkers.  I printed her out quite large and had to cut off part of her dress to fit her into the frame, (absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I messed up the base of her dress, of course!).

I've used my lovely Papermania papers (I think I'm addicted to this pad) and distressed the edges with my new distressing tool, before stitching them onto the red card.  The papers were so pretty that I didn't add too much fuss in the form of embellishments.

Hope you like her:

Is it too late to be good?

The theme today at ABC Christmas Challenge is L for 'Laugh' or 'Less is more'.

My regular visitors will know how much I struggle with the 'less is more' style, so I've had  no choice but to opt for the 'laugh' version.

However, it's more like a small smile, rather than a belly-ache laugh!!!

I also opted to paint my image with distress reinkers, but had to have a couple of attempts as it was quite a challenging image (and I still struggle with painting hair).  Perhaps I should stick to painting my bear images and keep my Copics for more intricate images.

Cherry Blossom

Yay, it's Saturday, so I've got a card to share for The Stamp Basket.  I've used my favourite Saturated Canary Rubber called Cherry Blossom, and painted her with my DI reinkers.  It gives a really soft appearance but does appear to make her hair grey rather than black!  For my first attempt at painting this image I was actually quite pleased with the result on the dress, face and tree. Might need a bit more practice on hair though.

Bad hair day?

I've got a rarity today as I'm posting a 'just for fun' card that I made.  I've also been making a lot of items other than cards this week, so it's been fun to make a card again!  I tried really hard with my colouring on this image, and I don't think the dress is too bad, but I'm not keen on her hair.  I think that I need to print her out larger next time (although this is quite a big card base so she probably looks smaller than she actually is anyway!)
