Tilly with Presents & some HAPPY news

Whoa, I'm a bit late with my post today, mainly because I've only just made my card!!!  Whoops!  I started off colouring a Bella the elephant image, and managed to spoil the same image twice, so I eventually gave up, and instead chose my favourite Tilly the dog image instead.

I'm also using some gorgeous Wild Rose Studio papers, and I matched the colours of the papers in the colours that I used for the image.  I think that the purple and aqua look lovely together.

Happy News:
I also have some lovely news to share today.  I was thrilled to discover in the week that I had been picked as the winner of Jacque's Sunday Sweet Stuff last week.  It was such a surprise, and to say I was delighted is an understatement!   She's such a lovely lady and has been through lots of battles with breast cancer, but if you've not been over to her blog then make sure you pop over and read some of her posts.  She's just shared some happy news that now her treatment has ended, she has found a new lease of life, and she's also discovered Zumba!!  I'm so pleased that she's winning her battles and thank her for her generosity in her Sunday candies.  Love ya Jacque, and I look forward to reading more of your successes. Thank you honey, and I'm so grateful for your generosity.

Click here to pop over to her blog and leave Jacque some love.

Hokey Pokey

I know it was exactly halfway to Christmas earlier this week, but my DT card today for The Stamp Basket showcases another festive image, this time called Hokey Pokey from Nellie Snellen.

I've used a rich red and contrasting frosty aqua colour scheme and added a couple of my (current) favourite dies; Floral Oval Nesties and Precious Stars.

Say it with Flowers

Stampfairy are sponsoring Crafty Catz this week, and I've made a card to support the challenge, which is 'Say it with Flowers'.  I've used Barry Spring, and used a summertime colour scheme of orange, yellow and green.

Armfuls of Daisies

The theme today at As You Like It Challenge is your favourite 3 embellishments.  This is my kind of challenge as I'm definitely not a C&S kind of gal !!!

My favourite embellishments are mulberry flowers, pearls and ribbons because they're pretty and girlie.  I love the texture they add to a card too.  I get withdrawal symptoms if I don't use these on my creations.

My usual choice of ribbon would be a 15mm double sided satin, but I've opted for a matt vintage style seam binding on this card.

Star Gazing

The theme today at ABC Christmas Challenge is M for Man or Mouse.  I'm hopeless at male cards, so chose the 'mouse' option!  I've used one of my oldest Penny Black stamps. It's quite a small image, but I think it works well on this layout.  I've included some die cut stars that gives him something to look at!

Bears or Ducks?

The theme today at Top Tip Tuesday is to use office supplies.  I had planned to use either staples or some pretty coloured paperclips as my office supplies, but I ended up making a new baby card, and I thought that they were not really appropriate for a baby card.   So I had to have a rethink.

I eventually ended up using an old coloured ring-binder index divider for backing all the panels and layers of my card.

I've also got a new addiction.  Thanks to the super talented Lisa, I've popped over to the Sugar Nellie shop, and got a bit carried away, so you may see a few new images on my blog over the next few weeks.

Today's card uses Cute & Cuddly, and it just shouted 'baby card' to me, so that's why I am in baby card mode!  I've stamped it in grey ink rather than black, so it has a softer look, and I've coloured it in pale colours.

When I'd finished, hubby asked me why I'd coloured a bear in yellow.  But I'm sure it's a duck. It has no ears so how can it be a bear?  What do you think?  Is it a bear or a duck?  And if it is a bear, can you get yellow bears?

(Winnie the Pooh is kind of yellow.  Isn't he?)

And here's what's left of my divider (cos I forgot to take a piccy of it before I cut it up!)

Barry Balloons

I've got a 'just for fun' card to share today using a cute image from StampFairy.  This one is Barry Balloons, and I've kept the card quite clean & simple.

Here's my card, with a dash of pink, of course! :

I actually based the layout on a card I'd made before using a different image, but I liked the simple layout so have used it again.  Here's a reminder of the original card that I posted back in May.

Giving Away

I ordered a few bits and bobs from the The Stamp Basket sale last week, and although they're Christmas images, and it's only June, I couldn't resist using them for today's card.

This one is called Giving Away and I painted her with my distress reinkers. I tried to water down the colours a bit as I wanted a softer appearance.  I've used non festive colours of aqua and brown, but added some white snowflake die cuts.

Hope you like it.

ps: don't forget the huge Summer sale on at The Stamp Basket either.  There are loads of lovely bargains to be had.

Rose Scent Tilda

I really love today's card which I've made for The Stamp Basket blog.  I ordered the  gorgeous new Graphic 45 pad from Janet, and it arrived last weekend.  So, after hubby's rant along the lines of "gawd, what have you bought now" when the package hit the doormat last Saturday, guess what I spent the morning playing with!!

I coloured her with my Copics, but stamped the image with grey, rather than black, ink pad so the lines are soft.  I find this really hard to colour, and although I'm pleased with her hair, I'm not too sure about her dungarees, so I may have to have another try soon.

I stitched around the panels and image and managed to squeeze in two of my favourite Memory box dies; Lavish Branch and Fancy Blossoms.

Also, don't forget there is a huge summer sale at the moment at The Stamp Basket, as Janet is making way for new stock, so pop over there and grab a bargain.

Clean & Simple Summer Fun

StampFairy are sponsoring Sketch & Stash, and I've made a card to support the challenge.  This one features my favourite bear (yup, Barry is here again) but he's on the beach today, building sandcastles in the sun (well it is meant to be summer after all!).

I've painted him with by Distress Reinkers, and coloured the sun in Sakura Stardust Gel pen to give it some sparkle.  I've hand stitched some cross stitch onto the edges of the panels and looped some yellow ribbon on the sides.

I'm not usually a fan of orange, (although I LOVE orange roses - how does that figure!) but I quite like these papers, so that's helped to give it a Summer Fun theme.

Barry Bee

StampFairy are sponsoring Craft Your Passion and this week the theme is 'Let's Play Dress Up', so I've made a little card to support the challenge using Barry dressed as a Bee.

Unfortunately, because most of my Barry cards involve flowers, my husband already thinks that Barry has 'masculinity issues' (I won't tell you the phrase that he actually used), so seeing Barry dressed as a bee has not helped support poor Barry's case.  But despite what hubby thinks, I think Barry looks adorable with his sparkly wings and bee costume.  :0)

He's been watercolour painted with my Distress reinkers and Stardust pens.

My card for The Stamp Basket today features some more Wild Rose Studio goodies; Bella with Bouquet and my lovely Vintage Rose Papers.  I've stitched around the panels and used a dark brown card to layer each piece.

Tilly with Presents

Despite the lack of my beloved embellishments, I think that today's card is one of my favourites that I've created for The Stamp Basket.  Probably because it features my favourite two colours, pink and aqua.

I've used my lovely Wild Rose Studio Vintage Rose papers.  You know how there are usually one or two papers in a set that you don't like as much as the others? ...  Well, I love ALL the papers in this set which is really rare for me.  I've also used a cute image of Tilly with Presents.

It's a truly C&S design (for me) and I really like showing off the papers without cluttering them up with a lot of embellishments.

Hope you like it too.

Don't forget there's a summer sale on at The Stamp Basket at the moment.  Janet's making room for new stock so there's loads of bargains to be had.  I'm hoping my order's gonna arrive today so I can play with it over the weekend :0)

Lovely

Today I've got a JFF card to share, using the gorgeous new image from Saturated Canary.  I'm not sure I've done here complete justice with my painting skills, but I wanted to try painting her with my distress reinkers.  I printed her out quite large and had to cut off part of her dress to fit her into the frame, (absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I messed up the base of her dress, of course!).

I've used my lovely Papermania papers (I think I'm addicted to this pad) and distressed the edges with my new distressing tool, before stitching them onto the red card.  The papers were so pretty that I didn't add too much fuss in the form of embellishments.

Hope you like her:

Never too old for a hug

The theme today at As You Like It Challenge is to use your favourite papers.  Well, this one was an easy challenge for me.  If you come here often, you'll know that for many months, my favourite papers have been the Papermania Lucy Cromwell pad.

Each page of this set is in one of my favourite colours; pink, aqua or purple, and most are either glittered or double sided.

And you know how, in most paper pads, there are always a couple of designs that you like less than the others ??  .... well in this set, I love them all.

I've loved this pad so much that I've bought 2 of the 6" size, and then treated myself to a 12" pad recently too (to keep in reserve)!

I've used the pink and aqua a lot recently, so today's choice is purple (for a change!).

Our sponsor this week is the shop where my lovely friend Samantha works, Penrith Crafts.  So if you're in Cumbria, make sure you pop in and see her!!

Is it too late to be good?

The theme today at ABC Christmas Challenge is L for 'Laugh' or 'Less is more'.

My regular visitors will know how much I struggle with the 'less is more' style, so I've had  no choice but to opt for the 'laugh' version.

However, it's more like a small smile, rather than a belly-ache laugh!!!

I also opted to paint my image with distress reinkers, but had to have a couple of attempts as it was quite a challenging image (and I still struggle with painting hair).  Perhaps I should stick to painting my bear images and keep my Copics for more intricate images.

Masculine (Oh, noooooo!)

The theme today at Top Tip Tuesday is masculine.

Anyone who visits me often knows I'm worse than hopeless as masculine cards.  I love pink, cute, sparkle, ribbon and flowers too much.  However, it's Father's day this Sunday, so I gave myself a stern talking to and got crafting.

I'm not sure that I'm entirely happy with the finished card, but the image is just perfect for my dad, who's a bit of a DIY enthusiast.

I've used glossy accents on the spanner, and spectacles, added a couple of blue buttons (one spotty and one striped), sneaked in a bit of spotty ribbon (shhh, no one will notice!) and one of my own circular sentiments.

Bunny with Flowers

My card for The Stamp Basket today is another from Wild Rose Studio. I love these little critters!  This one's Bunny with Flowers, and with pretty Wild Rose Studio papers too, I've kept the embellishments to a minimum.

Barry Spring

StampFairy are sponsoring Stampin' for the Weekend so I've made a card to fit their 'Cute' challenge using an image of Barry the bear.  I have painted him using my Distress Reinkers (I think I did a better job on him than I did on yesterday's puppy), and I gave him a does of glossy accents on the nose and paws.

Puppy Power

Another just for fun card today, this one was for my friend's birthday, which was yesterday.  I've painted the image with distress reinkers, but not altogether happy as I think the head is too dark and the body is too light.  Still, he's a cutie and hopefully she won't look too critically at my painting skills.

I've dug out some Wee gems

We're half way through the Kept Sage challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge and I've made a little card using something that I've 'kept safe' since 2005.  They are the little gems in the top left corner of my card, from some hair accessories that I wore on my wedding day.  They came in a set of 6 from Claire's Accessories and you twist the wire spirals into your hair so that only the gems show and sparkle through.  I've kept them in a little tin, meaning to use them for something.  And now finally I have.

I snipped off the wires as they were a bit grubby, and then glued the stone settings onto my card using some Glossy Accents.  They stand quite proud from the card, but then so do the roses and the image is raised on foam pads so really they don't stick out more than anything else.

I think it kind of looks like the girlie in the image is looking up towards them.

Here is what they looked like before:

Puppy Post

I've got a just for fun card to share today.  I couldn't resist these cute pups, so I've got a couple to share this week, and this is my first. Isn't he ADORABLE.  I just want to scoop him up for a snuggle.  I'm not sure if I've used this paper before, but it's from my favourite Papermania set.

I've also used my distressing tool that I bought weeks ago from my local craft store, The Craft Room, and have not used until now.  I find it really hard to 'ruin' the edges of lovely papers, but I gave it a go.  It's much easier with the little tool than scissors, but it did create quite a bit of powdery paper bits, so in the end I held it directly over the waste bin while I did it.   I think it looks a bit underdone though, not quite one way or the other, so I'll have to have another try.

I love the C&S look of this card, a pretty paper and a small strip of contrast with a border die, and I've kept it free of embellishments, other than some pearls (couldn't resist!), but I didn't think it needed anything else.

The image was painted with my distress reinkers, and I used my shimmer chalks for the clouds.
