Starry Night

Another card today using a sweet image from The Stamp Basket called Starry Night.  I'm still on my contemporary Christmas colour palette so it's pinks and aquas today.

I'm also using a lovely new Whiff of Joy Snowflake Festoon which I stuck onto the base of my image panel and then cut out the card below it so that it creates a shaped edge to the panel.  I also cut the red matting card into the same shape.

You Like My Star

Today's card uses a sweet image from The Stamp Basket called You Like My Star.  I've moved away from the traditional Christmas colours and back onto the contemporary colours for a while (it seems to go in phases!).

I've used some pretty new dies too.  This flourish is lovely, but the new star festoon banner is gorgeous, and I've coloured the edges of the stars a little bit so it gives them some definition.  A few pearls, a ribbon & pearl brad and a few flowers, and voilĂ  !!!

Patches on a Pillow Box, and notice of 2 SALES!!!

There is a new release and freebie today at StampFairy and Patches is back.

I've made a dinky pillow box (for dinky pressies!) and kept it nice and simple.

I embossed the pillow box in a snowflake design, but the papers were already patterned so the embossing doesn't snow up too much.  I kept the colours simple and festive, just red and green, and glittered up the baubles to the max.

    A Happy Mistake

This card is actually a mistake, because I made it for another DT project and then realised that I'd got carried away and had completely ignored the theme, so it didn't qualify.

Anyway, it fits this week's theme at Lili's Little Fairies which is 'Something New'.

My 'something new' is this little fella who just fell into my cart when I was last shopping at LOTV.

Seriously, their cart is dangerous, stamps constantly fall into it when I'm browsing.  And it seems to happen every time I shop there.  And of course I just can't possibly bring myself to remove them once they're in there.  So I just have to buy them.  Naturally!  ;0)

The Flowersoft that I've used for the snow is also new.  I only had green/meadow colour before, and thought I'd buy some white for snow.  I quite like it.  I'm not too sure about the snowflakes in the sky, but I like the bit on the ground.  I may need to practice more cos it went absolutely everywhere too!!

Despite the mess I made, I really like how this card turned out.  I hope the recipient does too, cos this one's been sent to a lovely friend !!

Favourites, favourites and yet more favourites ...

Stampfairy are sponsoring Creative Inspirations this week and the theme is Contemporary Christmas Colours.

It's also the letter 'Y' at the ABC Christmas Challenge which is 'Your Favourite Dies/Punches', so I'm combining the two challenges for today's card.

What a chance to have a real field day and create something that showcases your own style to the max!!!  And it's not just the dies that are my favourites ....

Loads of my favourite things are on this card :
    • Gorgeous dies, in this case my heart banner, nesties and paw print edger die
    • Jake Wintertime image (or just bears in general really !!!)
    • Pastel colours
    • Pearls
    • Ribbons
    • Pretty papers - especially these Papermania ones (just bought myself a 2nd pack!!!)
    • Glitter
    • Cloudy backgrounds
    • Winter images with snow (not so keen on too much of the real 'white stuff' though)

Yes, yes, yes, I know I used this image yesterday, but he's just sooooo cute.

    My Favourite Bear in Aqua

We're halfway through this fortnight's Christmas challenge at Top Tip Tuesday so I've made a little card featuring my favourite bear of the moment, Jake Wintertime.  I've used some cute aqua papers which are actually not Christmassy, but I've punched as snowflake border and with the snowy image they look suitably frosty.

The card is a J-Fold which I think is a lovely easy alternative to a traditional fold and it can be really effective.

Hope you like my card today.

Elf Maya and Kitty Writing Santa's List

Well, I finally got all my international Christmas mail (and half of the UK stuff) packaged up yesterday morning, and struggled to the post office with a carrier bag full of parcels.  Luckily (for me) there was absolutely no queue (yippee).  I apologised to the cashier in advance, and then emptied out my haul of parcels onto her counter.  15 minutes later there was a 'small' queue gathering behind me, but she got them all weighed and stamped, and so I handed over a small fortune and thanked her (again) for her patience with all my items.  Thankfully (although I'd not checked beforehand) the last posting day for international mail is Monday, so I'd just got it done in time.  Phew!  So, I'm sorry to anyone who was behind me in the queue at the Post Office yesterday, although the only person who actually looked fed up was my hubby, who was huffing and puffing and looking at his watch constantly (until he found the magazine shelf which then kept him occupied until I'd finished).

Ok, for those of you who visited my blog yesterday, I promised a real cutie today, and I hope you won't be disappointed.   I think I have to say that this card is one of my favourites this year.  The image is Elf Maya & Kitty writing Santa's List from The Stamp Basket.  I'm not sure whether it is the pretty papers, cute image, rich chocolatey colours (they are chocolate brown not black by the way), simple layout, fab dies or just that the whole card seems to encompass everything that is my style.

Oh dear, I really sound like I'm blowing my own trumpet here, but this was just one of those cards that I looked at when I'd finished and I thought "I'd like to keep this one"!  Instead I'm going to give this one to one of my blogging friends in the hope she'll like it too.

Hopefully you all know what I'm trying to say, and I hope you have had more of those types of cards than I seem to have had, as opposed to my mojo going AWOL whenever I sit down to craft.

Anyhoo, before I drivel on and bore you silly (too late, huh!) here's my card ...

    Maya and Kitty Sledging

I've got some gorgeous new cutie-pies to share with you today from the The Stamp Basket.  This is one of the new Whiff of Joy images called Maya and Kitty Sledging.  I've got a couple of these to show you over the next couple of weeks, (but I would secretly urge you to pop back here tomorrow as I think it's my favourite of the lot - so far at least!).

Anyhoo, this is just a quick post as I'm running late today.  I usually get my posts written the night before, but I didn't manage last night.  I was trying to write out all my overseas cards as I think I should probably have posted them already by now, so I wanted to get them posted today.  I hope I'm not too late!

Hope you like my card. Have a fab Saturday and I'll see you all tomorrow for some more Whiff of Joy cuteness.

      Punch or Die

The challenge this week at Lili's Little Fairies is Punches or Dies, and you have to use 3 different ones.  I felt like I was back at school where the teachers would drill into us to 'read the question', because my first card only used one die three times, so didn't qualify.

However, I returned to my craft desk and came up with this second attempt which is completely different, and does thankfully use 3 different dies/punches.

      I've used :
      a) Memory Box Snowflake Corner die,
      b) Memory Box Corner Bow die and
      c) Fiskars Snowflake Border punch

      Butterfly Baby

I'm playing along with the fab girls at the Incy Wincy Challenge this week and the theme is non-traditional Christmas colours.  We're sponsored by the amazingly talented Krista Smith at Saturated Canary and I've used a sweet little image called Butterfly Baby.  I've made a purple J-fold card and kept the embellies quite simple with just a few pearls.

Purple Christmas Teddies (and a Sale)

It's hubby's birthday today so I guess I should have a birthday card to share, but nope, it's another Christmas card cos (apparently) you just can't put snowflakes and glitter on a guy's birthday card!!!   It's actually one of those 'special' birthdays (you know the kind; with a BIG FAT "ZERO" at the end, which I have delighted in reminding him regularly over the last few weeks (and months) !!!)  It's easy for me to do this cos I've got another 2 years before I hit 'the big one' so I hope he's forgotten the teasing I'm giving him by the time it's my turn!  To make him feel marginally better, I'm surprising him by whisking him away "up north" for a long weekend in Cheltenham, so hopefully Mr Blogger is playing nice and schedules this post properly for me.

So, today's card uses a sweet image from The Stamp Basket called Christmas Teddies.  This is the second time I've used this image, and instead of colouring them like polar bears as I did last time, I've coloured them in pale browns and creams.  I think they look cute with their dark paw pads.  I've coloured their scarves to match the backing papers which are Noah's Arch.  The papers are not especially Christmassy, but the daisies on them really seemed to match the snowflakes on the Memory Box Snowflake Corner die so I think they're fine.

I've done some stitching around the backing panel and image but you can only really see it clearly on the image panel.  It is there.  Honest!

      Gingerbabies Ornaments

There is a new release and freebie today at StampFairy and today sees some more images featuring the Gingerbabies.  I've made a little tag for decorating my MIL's Christmas gifts which I've wrapped already.  I decided this year to wrap my pressies in coloured tissue paper wrapped with ribbons, so I bought quite a few packs of pretty coloured tissues paper and am using some scraps of ribbons.  I also made the two flowers with some spare tissue paper strips, just rolling the strips and twisting the strip every turn which I'd seen on a tutorial somewhere (sorry can't remember where now).

There's also a fantastic special offer on this weekend at
      and
