Sending Smiles Across the Miles (FREEBIE)

Happy Sunday everyone.  Today's card showcases products from The Stamp Basket, and features Sun Kissed from Elizabeth Bell.  I've used my lovely Lavish Branch die and pretty Country Companions double sided rose papers.

The sentiment is a new freebie, requested by TaylorMade. Unfortunately she didn't leave her email so I can't tell her that it's one of those I've selected, but hopefully she'll pop back to collect it.  It's taking me a while to make them up, but I'm getting through them slowly and there will be more to come yet, so keep popping back.

Let's Dance

Happy Saturday.  I've got a sweet ballet themed card to share today for The Stamp Basket.  The image is Eleanor, and I've used some pretty pink papers which I didn't want to cover up much, so I cut the image out and raised her onto a smaller shaped panel to give her a background.  I covered up the join of the papers with some satin ribbon and some wide lace.

Still searching for Spring, never mind Summer.

There is a new release and freebie today at StampFairy.  It's a summery set today, Lenny Summer Fun, but the weather feels far from summery yet.  Still, there's no harm in wishful thinking!

Today's project is a decorated notepad.  My MIL likes to keep notebooks in her bag for random thoughts and lists, and she gets through them, so I've decorated a couple, one that I'm sharing this week, and another for next week.  Hope she likes them.

    Enjoy your retirement

Today is the last day of work for one of my lovely colleagues because she is retiring today.  I've only worked directly with her for a year as I transferred into her department last April but she is a lovely lady and will be greatly missed.  I am pretty sure that her leaving it is nothing to do with my moving into the department, and I'll just take her timing as a coincidence for my own sanity!  Anyway, today's card is to give to her on her retirement.

It's also my final project as a guest designer at CRAFT where this week's theme is "Feminine".  Hopefully the girlie image, spot of pink and the glittered floral papers fits the bill.

    Buttons and Bows

The theme today at Lili's Little Fairies is Buttons and Bows.  Now I admit that I'm not usually one to include buttons on my cards.  I think they belong in my wardrobe, but I've given in and created this one.  I've managed to get both a ribbon and a bow on it, and really love this gingham ribbon, although I don't usually like gingham.  Anyway, here's my card:

    Berry on Stamping Linen

We're half way through our Fabric themed challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge so I've got another card using my new Stamping Linen.  This time I'm using Berry from Wee Stamps, again printed in grey-scale before colouring it with my Copics and fraying the edges of the linen to draw attention to the fabric.

    Teddy with Present

Today's card features a Wild Rose Studio image from The Stamp Basket aptly named Teddy with Present.   It's such a versatile image, and would be suitable for Mother's day, Thank you, or even a 'just for you' card.  But today he's bringing birthday wishes.

I'm loving this fence die at the moment. The die is cut in kraft card, and then I've run freehand streaks of various brown Promarkers to create a wood grain effect.

    'Sew' many layers!

I'm so glad it's the weekend again, and not only that, but there's only one more week until Easter too.

Today's card features Bildmalarna 'Your Birthday' but the image is quite large, so I've cut her out and only used part of the image.  It's really versatile, but the girl and bird seemed to be looking at something (which of course is the bear in the full picture) so I cut out the present that the bear was holding, and put it on the ground for them to look at instead!  The sewing was a challenge in itself on this project.  I tried to get it really close to the edges as there were so many small panels, and I got there in the end.

I've streaked the fence die with various shades of brown marker pen to make it look like woodgrain.

    Spring Barry Swing

There is a new release and freebie today at StampFairy being Barry Spring, and I've got a card to share featuring one of the new images.  I've made a simple easel card and painted Barry with DI reinkers adding some chalked clouds behind the image.

      Springtime Barry

StampFairy are sponsoring CRAFT challenges this week, and the challenge this week is a photo inspiration.

Firstly, I'll show you my card.  It features one of the recent Barry Spring images.  I've painted him using DI re-inkers and have sewn some green bakers twine into the image to make the swing ropes, sewing the twine in and out of the image panel where I think that the bear would show in front and behind the rope.  I frayed the ends underneath the seat and glued them down so they wouldn't fray any further.

and here's the photo inspiration.  The pink on my card is maybe a bit on the pale side, but my flowers are cherry blossom, the colour scheme is pink and blue, and I've created a blue sky on my image with my chalky clouds.

      Holly and some Stamping Linen

The theme today at ABC Christmas Challenge is F for Felt or Fabric.  For my fabric I've used Stamping Linen and printed my digital image onto it in grey-scale before colouring it with my copics and fraying the edges.  It was quite difficult to get the colours to blend, and I did find that some of the colours seemed to be different to how they normally look, but they didn't bleed over the surface like the've done when I've stamped onto fabric before.  I've added some sparkle and some liquid pearls, and some snowflake themed die cuts.

      "I demand a RECOUNT"

The theme today at Top Tip Tuesday is to create a funny card.  I've used an image from Bugaboo which came with an amusing sentiment, so I didn't have to use my brain to think up something funny, but while I took the easy option, most of the rest of the Top Tip Tuesday teamies did think up their own sentiments, so pop over to the challenge to see their fab creations.

In the meantime, here's my card :

      Book Worm

I've got a late one tonight, a 'just for fun' card to share.  This one features Geekin' It by Saturated Canary.  It was actually the second attempt too, as I really wasn't happy with the end result of the first card I made. I think that might have been because the papers I'd used were green and orange, both colours that I don't like, but I much prefer my 'go-to' colour pink.

Anyway, here is the second attempt.

      Jessica

Sunday is here, and I woke up this morning to see a very light dusting of the white stuff when I opened the curtains.  Most of it has now melted, but it's still cold, and quite rare to see snow this far south. Anyway, as it's Sunday I've got a project Stamp Basket to share.  Today I'm using Jessica and some gorgeous papers from Crafty Impressions called Lace Butterflies.  Don't forget there's a Spring Sale on over at the Stamp Basket, so pop over there for some fab bargains.

      Grace

Woohoo, it's Saturday, and so I've got a pretty in pink card to share with you today using an image called Grace from The Stamp Basket.  The papers are so pretty and it seemed a shame to cover them up too much so I kept the design really simple.

      Mimi with Puppy

There is a new release and freebie today at StampFairy and this week it's Mimi with her dog.  I've used 2 images from the newly released set as I like the peeker image for the inside.   I painted my images with DI re-inkers and stitched around all my panels (and yet again asked myself when I will learn not to attempt this when I'm using circles!)

I used the cut outs from a border die for the paw print accents.   I followed a sketch at Charisma Cardz, but unfortunately their challenge ended 2 days ago!!  LOL  Never mind, it was a nice sketch so nothing lost!

Xmas in March, and a lesson to learn in sewing

I won the 'star of the month' at CRAFT challenges last month and the prize is a Guest Designer spot for the month, so here I am with my first creation in support of the challenge which starts today.  The theme is Xmas in March and we're sponsored by Kenny K, Doodle Dragon Studio, Flonz Craft and Digital Delights.

I've used a saucy Kenny K image called Mistletoe and added a typed sentiment which I think goes well with the image.  It's been a while since I made an easel card too, so I've cut out a scalloped circle with a Go Kreate die, and used a red colour scheme.

One of my 2013 New Year Resolutions was to include stitching on my cards, but I think I need to have a 'get out clause' when I'm using fancy shapes, and in that category I would include circles.  My sewing machine does not have a speed control setting, so it's either stopped, or at full pelt, which makes navigating around shapes really difficult.  I could use the hand turning control thingy, but I'm too impatient and my foot finds the pedal too easily!!!  There were only a couple of wobbles, but they're all I can see when I look at the finished project!!!  My old machine had a speed setting so I could slow it right down.  I didn't think of it when I got my new machine last summer, but I miss it now I've not got it!! LOL

Anyway, hope you like my card, and I look forward to seeing your Christmas creations on the CRAFT challenge blog.

        White Wedding

The theme today at Lili's Little Fairies is 'Top of the Pops' (song inspired).  I did actually find this one a toughie, but in the end decided on Billy Idol's "White Wedding".  However, that might show my age a bit, so perhaps I should say it's inspired by Bruno Mars' "Marry You" instead??   LOL

Either way, I made a purple card with white accents, and a wedding image.   I painted the image with my DI re-inkers and added just a few embellishments to keep the design minimalistic.

        Barry Snowflake

Stampfairy are sponsoring I Love Promarkers this week, with a theme of Ribbons and Bows and I'm a guest designer for this challenge.

I've also combined this with a mid-way reminder card for our "Eyes down for BINGO" theme at the ABC Christmas Challenge.

Despite this being quite a C&S card for me, I've still managed to include all of the BINGO items except for the flowers and lace.

The card base is a Shape EZ Snowflake card template, cut out and inked around the edges.  I cut out my image, added a tree die cut, and layered it all with foam pads onto an embossed circle.  I sneaked in some vintage ribbon, pearls, a bit of sparkle, and that's about it.  With a really fancy shaped card I didn't want to overdo the embellishments, so kept it nice and simple.

        Daisy-Mae's Door Hanger

We're half way through our 'Up Up and Away' challenge at Top Tip Tuesday.

I've created a cute little door hanger for a work colleague who had a baby girl a few weeks ago using an image of Barry Bear with a balloon.   My image is painted with DI re-inkers on water colour paper, and I used some thick glittered backing papers which are stuck onto the MDF door hanger and trimmed to shape.

I've also added a couple of die cuts, my new Lavish Branch and also my Memory box Banner.  With difficulty, I added some lettering by printing it onto the green card before using the die.  It was a bit fiddly, but I got there in the end.

Here's a close up of my painted image with his glossy nose and balloon.  I printed him out in a grey outline colour so that the lines were not as dark. I think it gives a softer effect with the DI painting.
