Get Well Soon and yet another Freebie

I wanted to use these fab new "naturals" papers that I got from Summertime Designs and although they're actually called Falling for Fall, (slightly out of season!!!), I thought they were absolutely lovely and the natural theme really appealed to me.  However, when I decided to make a 'get well' card to promote today's freebie sentiment, I did wonder if the not-so-bright colour scheme was altogether suitable for a get well card, which I tend to prefer to be a bit more upbeat.  Anyway, I tried to brighten it up by using cream flowers, some sparkly dotty gold ribbon and some flat back pearls and liquid pearls. The image is Stamp Fairy and I've cut out the cute little bear and mounted him on an swirly embossed circle of cream card brushed with gold shimmer chalks, and layered onto a brown circle lacey nestie.

Anniversary Bears and a Freebie

I'm planning on catching up on sharing some freebie sentiments that I've been storing up and keep meaning to post.  The first one is used on a card I made tonight, using an anniversary sentiment I made a while ago.  The image is Lenny & Linda in Love from Stamp Fairy, the background fence and tree is from The Sherlocks Home and the papers are A Little Spring in Your Step from  Summertime Designs.

Lenny in his Ladybird Outfit

Well, this month has just flown by, and this week is sadly my last week as a guest designer with Stamp Fairy.  I've had so much fun, but I guess all good things must come to an end.  I shall miss contributing to the team, but with Gerda's fab images expanding every week, and the fact that I'm totally addicted to her designs, I'll just have to settle for playing along with the challenges as normal again!!!

So, back to the challenge theme, and it is a photo inspiration for you this week.


As soon as I saw the image, the papers from Robyn's Fetish Coney Island Summer came to mind, with their gold and red flowers, so I've gone for a Springtime / floral theme.  I've used Lenny in this cute little Ladybird (or "Ladybug" I believe? if you're American) outfit as I thought the ladybird theme went well with the flowers and the colours.  I've stamped him twice, cut out and layered the second image on sticky foam pads.  I cut out the base image with my oval cutter, matted onto red card and cut around the oval with my scalloped scissors.  I've used promarkers to colour Lenny and shimmer chalks around the image on the base card.

For embellishments, I've added some pink liquid pearls in three corners, some yellow flat back beads in the forth corner, some cherry blossom and roses from Wild Orchid Crafts, and some gold chiffon ribbons, one of which I've tied into a bow.

Sparkle and Shine

This week on Incy Wincy the challenge is Sparkle and Shine. We're sponsored by Heart Song this week who've given the design team this image for us to use, called Butterfly Bear. 

I've stamped him twice, cut out and raised the second image on sticky pads adding glitter to the butterfly. The glittered gold card under the image has been embossed with budding vine embossing folder and then matted onto pale blue card.  I've used one of my own circle sentiments and added some more sparkle in the form of gems in two corners.  Finally I've added some blue flowers and a blue ribbon.

Angel Gift Bag

After my guest designer week last week, this is my first official week as a full time designer for One Stop Craft.  Our theme this week is fairies and angels, and our sponsor is Stitchy Bear Stamps who've let me play with this lovely angel image.  I thought that I'd have a go at something a little different today, so have followed a tutorial I've seen on how to make a gift bag. Here's the video, but I have also found step by step photo guides here or here if you want to have a look.  As I'd used decorative cardstock, I didn't use add any other embellishments.

Bear Couple

This week at 2 Sisters we're sponsored by Crafty Sentiments who have give us this lovely bear couple called Poppy & Henry to showcase.  I've chosen a purple colour scheme, and in order to follow the challenge set of 'make your own embelishments' I've made my own flowers from some Marianne Designs CreaTables dies using purple and lilac shimmer papers, with punchies in the centers. I've also used some white liquid pearls sent to me by the very generous Elaine as the flower centers.  I've added some purple ribbons and my new square lacey nesties, which I totally love!

Quilted Thanks

I've gone for a really simple card tonight; a quilted style background on a paper which has stitching detail around the edge for the fully stitched effect. The digi was a freebie from Sliekje Stamps and I've coloured it with promarkers and shimmer chalks. The only embelishment on this one were some little glass gems and a tiny heart gem.

A Blue Fairy

My little LOTV birthday fairy is out to play again. I'm loving this cute little image, this time coloured completely in blue.  I've used blue digi papers, blue embossed card, blue ribbons, blue flowers (from Wild Orchid) and some sparkly gems and glitter to finish it off.  The digi sentiment is another one of mine, altered from last week's Mother's day one.  I've embossed the white card behind the image, and used my lacey circle nestie.

Clemantine with her Easter Egg

It is week three of my Guest Designer month with The Stamp Fairy team, and this week's theme is another great sketch to inspire you.

I've used Clemantine the bunny, and chosen an Easter themed image of Clemantine with her Easter egg.  She is just so cute with her long ears and sweet expression.  I love lilac, so have chosen this colour theme for my project this week.


I've left Clemantine mainly white, but used grey shimmer chalks around the left side of the image to give some depth.  I've added some lilac shimmer chalk around the base image, stamped her again, cut around the second image and raised it up on sticky foam pads.  

The papers are from Bearly Mine Designs and I've added some spotty buttons, a spotty bow, and some pretty lilac flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I've cut around the base image using my oval cutter, stuck it onto purple shimmer paper and cut around that using my scalloped scissors.  The sentiment is actually one of my own designs, and is a freebie on my blog. Bumblebrella

This week's theme at Incy Wincy is embossing (either dry embossing which I've used, or heat embossing), and we're sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamps who are giving away a $10 prize to our winner.


I've used an image from Stitchy Bear called Bumblebrella, and I've stamped her twice, coloured her using my Promarkers, and cut out and raised the second image on sticky foam pads.  I've added some glitter to her flower umbrella and her wings, and some shimmer chalks to shade around the base image.  My accents are blue spotty buttons, two strips of pastel blue ribbon and a bow in sparkly blue elastic (note to self : it is very hard to tie a bow in elastic string so don't try it again!!!)  My embossing is a happy birthday embossing folder that I've then shaded with blue shimmer chalk to bring out the raised parts.

Birthday Fairy

I've had such a nice weekend.  Yesterday was a bit dull weather-wise, so I stamped out loads of images, and spent a happy couple of hours (in between the housework) colouring them all in.  Also went back to the vets for Arnie's blood test results, and they confirmed he's got a overactive thyroid and we need to get his heart rate down (it is over 200 and should be about 100 beats per minute) and his thyroid levels were over 300 and should be about 50.  Picked him up the tablets, and then nipped in Tesco for some economy cheese to squish the tablets into to encourage him to eat them.  Need not have worried as he's wolfed them down inside a small square of cheese so fast that I don't think it touched the inside of his mouth before it was gulped down and he was begging for more.   Feel a bit better now that I know he's going to take his medication, even though we've got to get blood tests done every month which is going to become very expensive.  Good thing he's worth it!!!

Today was sunnier, but I had a really lazy morning in my PJ's watching some fab videos on colouring Hanlar images by Chrissy.  I don't think I ever stand a chance of getting that good, but I'm determined to try harder with my colouring in future.  I spent some time this afternoon in the garden, dug over a couple of the raised veg beds, raked in some home made compost, and planted some onion sets.  Had a quick look in the greenhouse and saw that none of the plants that I put in there last autumn have survived the frosts, so have chucked them out, and had a sweep up of all the bits that have fallen off my neighbour's trees into my garden. I couldn't see where the path ended because of all the bits, so it looks a bit neater now.  I'm a bit of a "neat freak" so I feel a bit better now!!!

Back to the cards, and I got this fab stamp as a candy from the uber talented Bev Rochester last week, and have been so excited to ink it up and colour her in.  So, here's another card that I've finished off today. I've got a feeling this image may be out to play again very soon !!!  The flowers are die cuts layered up and dotted with a liquid pearl dot. I've also added some purple liquid pearls in the corners, and made my own sentiment, altering the 'Mother's day' freebie from yesterday to say Happy Birthday instead.

Christmas Present

There's an early Christmas pressie from Stamp Fairy in the form of this cute little teddy bear peeking out of a box.  So, although it is only March, I couldn't resist and had to make another little Christmas card to try him out.  I've used some ribbons that I got ages ago, and my new dotty embossing folder that I think looks a bit like snow.  The papers are old (can't remember where I got them now as they are scraps left over from last Christmas, and I embellished my holly punchies with red liquid pearls for the berries.  The sentiment is a large metal brad.

Is it too early for Christmas?

Oh dear.  After 3 months of frantic Christmas crafting from October last year, I promised myself that I'd not be making another Christmas card for at least another 10 months, and yet here we are in March and I've failed with that New Year's resolution already! 

This is a lovely Stamp Fairy image, one of loads that I'm slowly collecting!   I've also used my lovely new nesties to follow a sketch which needed a circle and a square. I wanted to do a totallly white card, and use my spotty embossing folder, but I ended up with some shiny blue and silver wrapping paper on one of the panels.  Still, I think it looks ok.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend (and a freebie!)

Woo Hoo, I've got some exciting news for you today.  Not only have I been invited to be a Guest Designer for One Stop Craft Challenge Blog for the week, but I've also been invited to join them as a full time DT member!!!    Double Woo Hoo !!!  This calls for a celebration, so I'm giving away another freebie today (see below)!

The theme this week is 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend', so I interpreted this to be a girlie card with bling.  Now, as I'm someone who likes cute and pink girlie images covered in sparkles, you can probably imagine how disappointed I was with this theme (NOT !!!).  Well, I'd better get back on track to the card I've made, which uses a beautiful little Stamp Fairy image called Patsy Tooth Fairy (except I cut out the tooth part which was hanging from the cloud to leave just the fairy part!).

I've used my Promarkers to colour her in pinks, added glitter to her wings and hair bow, and used 'fluffy stuff' to create a fluffy cloud texture.  I had bought the fluffy stuff at Christmas to put on snow scenes, and after Christmas I didn't think I'd use it again until I start making 2011's Christmas cards later in the year, but it is perfect for clouds too, and gives loads of texture. 

The papers are from Robyn's Fetish Coney Island Summer range, and I've used my new lacey circles nesties (of course!) for both the image and the sentiment.  The sentiment is one I created especially for this card, which is going to be for my M-I-L.  However, if you want to have it too, then I'm happy to share it as another freebie (see below).


I've finished my card off with flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, and of course my 'diamonds' which are lovely little self adhesive silver gems that look like little diamonds (if only they were!), and I've blinged the card up to the max with them to give loads of extra sparkle!  Hope my M-I-L likes my Patsy Fairy card!

Furry Friends Gift Box

This week at 2 Sisters the theme is Furry Friends and we're sponsored by The Crafty Pad who have supplied us with these little Easter bunnies to showcase.  I've decided not to make a card this week, but to make a little box to fill with Easter goodies. The Green Monster

I've made this card tonight and realised that I've used the same sketch as yesterday's card, and also the same brand of image, Dustin Pike!  Anyway, since I love his images so much, and the sketch is nice and easy, I'm not bothered!  Besides, although the jury is still out on last night's card, I think this one really is suitable for a man (which is the intentions as it is for a male friend's birthday) because I managed to refrain from adding flowers of any kind (I had to try really hard not to put my fave Wild Orchid flowers on like I normally do, but I think I just about managed it *nervous twitch*!).  However, I did manage to still use my nesties, and sneaked a couple of gems in there too.  The sentiment is Christine's again (thanks honey for being so understanding!).

Puff the Magic Dragon

Ok, here's a very quick Easter card tonight using a Dustin Pike image that I'd printed and coloured at the weekend and not got around to doing anything else with at the time.  I've used yellows and greens for an Easter theme, adding a bit of ribbon and some pearls.  I've used my beaded oval nesties and an embossing folder on the yellow card triangles.  I was intending to give this to my dad for Easter, as I thought the Easter dragon was quite a masculine image, but now I've added the glittered flowers I'm not so sure it is masculine enough?  Any thoughts?

A fairy card to cheer me up

I've just got back from the vets to get Arnie's annual cat flu injection, and the vet has told me that my 'little boy' is not actually 4 years old like we thought, but is probably more like 13 years old.  Plus, (as if shaving 9 years off his furry little life wasn't bad enough) he's got an overactive thyroid gland.  Apparently, if this is confirmed by the blood tests, this means that we need to put him on medication twice a day for the rest of his life.  My healthy 'baby boy' has turned into a poorly pensioner overnight.  I just feel that 9 years have been taken away from him, and that he's now going to be constantly poorly.  He's been getting lots of extra snuggles tonight and hasn't stopped purring since I brought him home, so at least one of us is oblivious and happy!

Anyway, to cheer me up, I've been using one of my fave new stamps which is Stamp Fairy's Patsy Tooth Fairy, although I cut off (most of) the tooth part as I just wanted a fairy.  She's so pretty and I coloured her in lilac which is one of my favourite colours (along with pink!) and used my fave nesties.  I've followed a sketch but added some extra little pearls and a sentiment. The sentiment is one of Christine's (sorry for the confusion on the earlier version of this post where I'd taken credit for it - I'd got totally confused with a Mother's day sentiment I've made for a very similar card which will be a freebie on Saturday! Oh dear, sorry Christine, and thanks for pointing it out!) and flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Finally, I glittered up her wings and the cloud.

New Release at Stamp Fairy - Patsy Beachtime

There is a fab new release of Stamp Fairy images out by the fabulously talented Gerda, and it is Patsy having fun on the beach in the sunshine.  This is such a lovely set of images now that the sun has finally decided to come out to play (famous last words!).

Happy Bee-Day

It's the second week of my Guest Designer month with The Stamp Fairy and this week's theme is the colour GREEN. 

Now, I must admit green is not my favourite colour, so I've been a bit challenged here.  However, I've used a fab image of Lenny in a bee costume and some uber pretty green papers from Robyn's Fetish (Coney Island Summer).  The circle birthday sentiment is a freebie from my very talented blogging friend Christine, so drop by and show her some love too!  I've added some cream flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, two different green ribbons and a bow.  Finally I've used a scrap of clear beaded pearls on a string (which I must say, were really hard to stick on!)

Have a "Hoppy" Birthday!

This week at the Incy Wincy challenge we're sponsored by our very own charity Aspire to Thrive Childrens Charity.  The digis there are very reasonably priced and there are lots of cute images, including this little frog that I've used.  Our theme this week is 'For the Boys', so I've created a hand-made sentiment of 'Have a Hoppy Birthday' and decorated my card using lots of green; ribbons, gems, a sizzix sizzlet flourish and a spotty brad.

Panda Paul Bamboo

This is one of the Stamps Fairy's new images called Panda Paul Bamboo and he is adorable.  I've made him in a green theme and used my new nesties to create a lacy circle around him.  I've used completely digis today, image and backing papers, added some pearls, flowers and a sentiment from my talented blogging pal, Christine with a smaller nestie scalloped circle around it.  Hope you like Panda Paul as much as I do, and go and check out Gerda's other designs at Stamp Fairy.

Baby Blue

Where has the week gone?  It's Saturday already and we're ready for a new challenge at 2 Sisters.  This week the theme is Babies, and we're being sponsored by Patties Creations who have supplied this cute baby image for us to use.  I've decided to go for a baby boy theme to get away from all the pinks I've been using lately, so went completely monochrome with blue colouring, nestie, flowers, brads, ribbon and of course backing papers.

Birthday Dragon

This dragon sitting on a birthday cake is one of Dustin Pike's super cute images, and I thought this guy was perfect for a male themed birthday card.  I'm entering this into a couple of challenges which were against my normal style, one being to avoid flowers (which I found really hard until I convinced myself this was going to be a male card) and the other challenge was to use lots of colours (well I usually colour coordinate everything to a monochrome theme). 

So, since I've just bought myself some lovely new ribbons, I decided to use all the colours of the rainbow, ROYGBIV on this one.  I think it turned out ok, especially as I added some extra orange accents being the opposite on the colour wheel to green (I think!) so I thought they would compliment each other. Perhaps someone will tell me if I'm wrong!  And of course, I also had to use my new nesties, so opted for the square lacey one and raised it up on sticky foam pads from the main card.  The sentiment is my own, and is a freebie on my blog if you're interested if grabbing it (check out freebies in my blog labels).

Stamp Fairy Fairy

This cute little fairy is actually part of the Stamp Fairy's 'Patsy - tooth fairy' set, but I've masked out the tooth with a white filled shape in Word before printing (well I got nearly all of it but I don't think it shows that I missed a little bit jsut inside the cloud!).  I've coloured Patsy in pink, and glittered the cloud and her wings.  I've used my new lacey circle nestie and used pink papers, flowers, pearls and ribbons, also adding some lace and a home-made sentiment (check out 'freebies' on my blog if you would like to download it). 

I am so in love with my new Big Shot machine, I've only had a Sidekick and a QuicKutz before, and now I've decided to invest and upgrade to the Big Shot, I'm in heaven.  I also treated myself to 3 sets of nesties and have found that there is a supplier who lives right opposite my house, so I can buy my nesties and get them hand delivered the same day!  I couldn't be happier so you may expect to see lots of lacey cirles, beaded ovals and lacey squares coming up !!!

Some exciting news, and Dotty with her Snuggle Blanket

I'm so excited that I can finally share some fab news with you !!!

I've been invited by the fabulously talented Gerda of The Stamp Fairy to join her team as a Guest Designer for four weeks.  Her images are some of my favourites, which makes it even more special for me to be asked to join her talented team for a whole month.  Yippee !!!

This is my first card as part of the team, and this week's theme is sketch:


I've used the ultra cute Baby Dotty with her snuggle blanket.  I've coloured Dotty in pink and her blanket in lilac, stamped her twice, cut out the top layer and raised it on sticky pads. I've also chalked around the base image with shimmer chalk. 

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, and the lace was some blog candy received from the wonderfully generous Tina.  Finally, I've added some tear-drop gems, a pink ribbon and an "It's a Girl" pink brad (I pulled the metal bits off the back and stuck it on with foam sticky fixers instead).  Isn't she just the cutest!

Whatever it is, I didn't do it ...

I couldn't resist using this cheeky chappie on this week's Pastels challenge at Incy Wincy.  He's called Sydney the Squirrel  and has been kindly donated by our generous sponsors who are Digital Delights.

The sentiment is also quite cheeky and seemed to match Sydney's expression. However, I also put googly eyes onto him to make him look even naughtier!  I've used blue as my pastel colour, using 3 different design papers, some pastel blue ribbon and blue spotty buttons and flat back gems.  I think he would make a great card for a teenager with that sentiment!  What do you think?

Baby Dragon

I've made this pink dragon baby card on a totally monochrome colour scheme, there is nothing but black ink, white embossed papers and pink, well, pink everything else !!! I've used pink promarkers to colour the dragon, pink pearls for decorations, pink flowers from Wild Orchid, pink ribbon, pink papers from Robyn's Fetish Coney Island Summer paper range and embossed dots, and finally Baby die cuts from sizzlits that I've glittered up to the max for extra bling.  The image is from the very talented Dustin Pike and I love him (I mean there that I love the dragon, not Dustin; although I'm sure Dustin is lovely too!!). I've usually coloured him in green, but as I was going for a monochrome theme, thought I'd see what he looked like in pink, and I'm quite pleased.  I always think you can never have too much pink!

Easter Bunny

I wonder if this little Easter bunny has eaten too many Easter eggs?  He looks like he's struggling to peer over his large tummy ! Anyway, this week at 2 Sisters, the theme is a sketch by yours truly!!!  This is a big 'first' for me as it is my first ever published sketch!  I'm so humbled to see my little sketch "in print" and am sooo looking forward to seeing what you all do with it. 


For my DT card, I've used a cute little image from Stitchy Bear, who are our sponsors for this week along with Pizzaz Aplenty. As soon as I saw him, I couldn't resist him.  I've coloured him in Vanilla promarkers, shading him partially and leaving some white showing. I've used a soft peach for his ears, nose, cheeks and paw pads and a touch of blue in his eyes.  I've also shaded around him with blue shimmer chalks.  I've used a Stitchy Bear gingham backing paper for the main card, a Robyn's Fetish butterfly paper for the horizontal asymmetric panel and a tag sentiment from Hobby Paleis.  The flower ribbon was a Xmas pressie from my MIL, but I think it was from John Lewis (Unfortunately I don't have a John Lewis near me, I think the nearest is about 100 miles away and I only get to go there a couple of times a year as it is a halfway stop point for visiting the "out-laws"!)

Rock Chic

This is a bit outside my normal comfort zone, but I've had a go at a Gothic looking card, using a Digis with Attitude stamp. I've used purples and greens as my colour combo and tried to lay off the flowers.  I found this too hard, so had to put just a couple on there, but also added some spotty buttons and a purple beaded pin instead of my usual array of various flowers.  I hope it does the trick!

Bunny Box

The challenge at Stamp Fairy this week is to create something other than a card. Therefore after making a pillow box that turned out to me a mini pillow box and too small for my image, I've decided to decorate a glossy box useing a lovely Clemantine bunny with a carrot.  As I was using an orange box, I decided that orange would be the colour theme which matched in well with the carrot in the image.  Therefore I decorated the box lid with orange card, which I embossed using a budding vine embossing folder, wrapped red and orange ribbons around the box lid to hide the edges of the embossed card, and then added lots of orange flowers with some beaded 'whiskers'!  Isn't she just the prettiest rabbit! These Stamp Fairy images really are my current faves!
