Vibrant Colours?

It's the letter 'V' at the ABC Christmas Challenge which is for Vibrant Colours.  I'm usually more of a 'pastel' gal, but this was a fun challenge.

With all the bright stripes, I think this card should carry an epilepsy warning ...

Tommy Wizard Pouches

We're half way through this fortnight's challenge at Top Tip Tuesday which is Halloween.  I've been on a bit of a roll with my Trick or Treat pouches which I fill with goodies to hand out on Halloween.  Here are a couple more I've made, this time using orange rather than purple.

Nativity Play

Today's card uses a sweet image from The Stamp Basket.  And yes, it is another Christmas card.  But it is nearly November, so Christmas is only 8 weeks away.  (Considering I was making Christmas cards in January, I'm not entirely sure that excuse works, but I'm sticking to it!)

I've been practising again with my painting using distress re-inkers, and I managed to completely mess up the first attempt. So I tried again.  But because I'd already cut and embossed my image, I decided to cut out the second image and decoupage it over the first ruined one.  I took the photo at an angle so you can just see the offset layers.

I really struggle blending the red inks (which is rather a problem if you're using traditional colours for a Christmas card).  If anyone has any tips I'd love to hear them.  I've watched loads of videos on painting with distress inks, and I really love the therapeutic nature of painting rather than the quick and easy option of copics, but when I'm in trouble with my paints, my copics are just calling out to me 'use us, use us'.  It's so easy to be weak and give in.

Anyhoo, back to the card, when I was happy(ish) with my colouring, I put together my card.  OMG this new flourish die is just amazing.  I LOVE IT.  I loved the corner bow but this one is fantastic too.  I'm getting so many dies that I will have nowhere to put them soon!!!

I also love these adorable Kaisercraft papers, especially the one I've used on the top half.  They're so romantic and pretty.

It's Friday so there is a new release and freebie at StampFairy called Barry Circles.  I've made so many Christmas cards lately that I thought I'd make something different.  I'm not sure why, but this cute image just seemed perfect for a new baby card, so that's what I've made.

    James the Bear

It's the halfway point of our 'Up to you' challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge and I've made a little midway reminder card to share.  This has been painted with my distress inks.  I'm still getting used to them and am really struggling with certain colours.  Red seems to be the hardest for me to get blending.  I need to add some water to the ink before painting otherwise it just will not blend.  My card is also struggling and sometime gets a bit rough.  I think I need a lot more practice!!!

Anyway, I'm sharing LOTV's James (no red you may notice!).  I've also used some Gold mirror card which I used to use on all my cards when I first started cardmaking, but I don't think I've used it for a couple of years now, so I thought I'd get it out.  It seemed to match well with the cream backing papers.

    Halloween Pouches

This fortnight's challenge at Top Tip Tuesday is Halloween and I've made a couple more Trick or Treat pouches.

These are so easy to make and the kids really seem to like them.  They are created almost entirely digitally, with the gingham ribbon, paper and image all layered digitally before printing.  Then all I needed to do was colour, cut, fold and decorate with a few pearls, stickles and a small rustic bow.

It makes them easy to produce lots of them in time for Halloween.

Here are today's pouches, along with the other 2 that I made last week.

    Buckets of Fun

OK, so I may have got slightly carried away with my previous LOTV order as I'm only just getting around to inking this one and yet I've already placed another couple of orders!!  I just can't resist those cuties!

This image would be really suitable for a male card, so I've steered away from the flowers, and kept the embellies to a minimum.  It's got quite an autumnal feel too with the deep reds and browns.  I thought this cute little ribbon was also fab for the doggie theme.

      Purple Tilly

I've got another card to share today on behalf of The Stamp Basket.  This one's less of a traditional Christmas colour card, but I think it is nice to be different sometimes!  It's been a while since I've used purple too, and I've missed it!!!

I love the sweet snowflake embossing folder and the gorgeous corner dies on this card.  The bistro label die is also a great size.

        Snow Bunny

It's the letter 'U' at the ABC Christmas Challenge which is 'Up to you'.  Effectively and 'anything goes' but you need to ensure it is Christmas themed.

We're sponsored by Meljens so I've used Snow Bunny which is an image that I've had for a long time, but not got around to using yet.

Here he is (be prepared for a little bit of pink) ...

        Fairy Stepper Card

We're halfway through this fortnight's 'things with wings' challenge at Top Tip Tuesday and I'm sharing a really clean and simple card today.  The card base is a stepper card, so I don't think it needs a lot of fancy embellishments (so unlike me not to splatter it with flowers!)

        Autumn Birthday

I've got a just for fun post today, sharing a card I made for a work colleague.  I used the opportunity to practice painting with my Distress Ink re-inkers again. The image seems to be quite dark and I think I need to practice a lighter touch with the paintbrush.

I'm not sure she's into pink either, so I tried to steer away from that colour and opted for a more autumn colour theme in the papers and image.

        Autumnal Colours

I've made a card today to enter into a couple of challenges that caught my eye.  I've used an autumnal colour scheme as the season is changing.  It's not a colour that I would usually opt for, but it's quite appealing.

This card was made as a commissioned personalised card.  I've used my favourite colour pink, favourite papers and one of my older favourite LOTV images.  What could be better!!!  I've even managed to use my favourite corner bow die from Memory Box again!!!

        Christmas Letters

It's Saturday, so I've got another card to share today on behalf of The Stamp Basket.  I've had to schedule this post as I'm going to be working this weekend  :0(    My department is moving floors within the same building and there are some fitters coming in to move desks around.  I'm also going in today to help move everyone's computers and belongings so that things are more straight for everyone else to come back in to their new desks on Monday morning.

Anyway, back to my card (assuming my scheduler works its magic)  I've got a traditionally coloured Christmas card using my gorgeous corner bow die from The Stamp Basket.

        I.
        Love.
        This.

        Mimi Winter

It's Friday so there is a new release and freebie at StampFairy called Mimi Winter.  Here's a card I've made with one of the newly released images and the freebie.  I've traced over the top of the sentiment text with a Sakura Stardust gel pen to make it shine.

I've opted for some really deep classic Christmas colours today.  I think that the die cut snowflake border really looks good against the dark backgrounds.

          Classic Christmas

The theme this week at Lili's Little Fairies is Classic Christmas Colours.  I've used red, green and white for my 'classic' colour scheme, but I've also used a classic image style too.

I've had another try at painting with my distress reinkers.  This one is not too bad. I think the reds are easy to work with!!! LOL
