Polar Pink

I've watercoloured this adorable polar bear and layered him onto some frosty white glitter card which I've overlaid with my favourite Marine blue cardstock using a holly die cut frame.

There are some pink accents because I love a sprinkling of pink at Christmas!

Reindeer Snowflake

I've watercoloured this cute festive reindeer digi stamp from Amanda Jayne Designs and framed him with a sparkly snowflake in iridescent white glitter card which I've then mounted onto a Marine Blue shaped card base (the Marine Blue is my oh-so-favourite soft blue!).

The shaped card folds at the top-left corner which makes it stand up better than a proper tent-fold (fold at the top) as I have found those tend to slowly spread outwards like Bambi's legs on ice!

Happy Christmas Badgers

This fortnight at As You Like It Challenge we want to see your favourite non-traditional Christmas animal.  I absolutely love the little woodland characters by Lee Holland Digis so I've used this Christmas scene with the badger, which is my favourite one to colour!

I've typed, printed and foiled the sentiment, but it has come out a bit patchy. I think I might be running low on printer ink so will have to get a new cartridge, but I love the sparkly effect on the text.

Pastel Cracker

Our challenge this fortnight at As You Like It Challenge is to use your favourite non-traditional Christmas colours.  My favourite colours for any theme would be pastel pink, blue and purple, so I've combined all three of them to create a Christmas Cracker hexagon shaped gift box which I've cut using my Silhouette. I love the softness of these colours and enjoy the break from traditional red, gold and green.

I've watercoloured an image and matted it onto my favourite Marine Blue card and I've made the base of the cracker using the same card.  I've decorated the cracker with patterned papers which include all three pastel colours, and added a pink organza bow.

Tag Team (3)

I've created a festive scalloped circle tag using my Silhouette in layers of red, green and white card (which I've embossed for texture).  The image was stamped and watercoloured before fussy cutting and raising up on foam pads.  I've finished it off with some snowflake organza ribbon.

In the Dog House

My third sneak peek of the new Polymer stamps being released by Lili of the Valley at 4pm on Friday 11 November on Create and Craft TV.

I've watercoloured the little puppy and created a little kennel shaped cardbase for him using my Silhouette and lots of different shades of red for the layers, along with my favourite marine blue for the front.  I've added a bone-shpaed sign with his name typed and foiled.

A Christmas Carol

It's been a while since I've made a single layer Clean and Simple card, but while digging through my older stamps today I found this MFT Christmas Carol stamp set and I wanted to try a lightbeam effect using ink.

There was a lot of masking involved for this card.  The lamp post was also shorter than I needed, so I masked off the bottom half and stamped the top, then did the reverse to stamp only the base.  I wanted the lantern to be quite high on the card so that the light it shone covered about a third of the card.  I then masked everything to stamp the stones and ink the lightmeam in tones of orange fading out to pale yellow.

I've watercoloured the image using mostly neutral colours but added a pop of red on each element, including the candle in the lantern.  I tried to create some darker shadow in front of the carol singers to show that the light is coming from behind them.  I added a sprinkling of snow and a yellow glow on the goat's hat pompom.

Water-coloured on Ecoline Watercolour Card with Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers:
  • Cow/Robin: Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Tattered Rose, Tea Dye
  • GoatAntique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Walnut Stain, Tattered Rose, Tea Dye,
  • Light: Scattered Straw, Wild Honey
  • Reds: Candied Apple, Barn Door, Aged Mahogany
  • Greys: Hickory Smoke, Black Soot
