Gardening

I wanted to make a flowerpot shaped cardbase for this gardening image, but it turned out more challenging than I'd expected!  This is what I've come up with and I've decorated it with some die cut flowers to match the gardening theme.  It's my DT card for the As You Like It Challenge where the theme is to showcase your favourite colouring medium.  I've tried H2O's, Promarkers, Pencils, Copics, Zigs and Docraft Artiste pens in the past but always come back to watercolouring with my DI reinkers like a comfy pair of slippers!  I really should try harder with the other mediums, but I actually find the watercolouring quite therapeutic and I like the way they blend and shade.

  • Fur: Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs
  • Grass: Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss
  • Sky: Tumbled Glass
  • Reds: Candied Apple, Barn Door, Aged Mahogany

Father's Day Puppy

This week at PolkadoodlesDigi Choosday I've made a Father's Day card featuring Horace the puppy and some papers from Lily Bug Love Paper Heaven 3.  I've left the design fairly simple as it's a masculine theme and watercoloured it with Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers.

  • Fur: Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs
  • Grass: Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss

Baby Giraffe

We're asking you to share your favourite way to add ribbon to your projects this week at As You Like It Challenge, and I love to use ribbons so this is a fabulous challenge for me!  I like using 2 papers on my cards and use a strip of satin ribbon to cover the join, as well as add a double bow in the same ribbon.  The double bows are really easy to make once you get the hang of them, and I think they look really special.

Water-coloured on Langton Watercolour paper with Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers:

  • Giraffe: Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs
  • Sky: Tumbled Glass
  • Present: Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans
  • Reds: Candied Apple, Barn Door, Aged Mahogany
  • Ground: Pumice Stone, Hickory Smoke, Black Soot

I have loved this image since it was released and missed out on it originally, but it's come back into stock at Dies to Die For along with a few other golden oldies!

Summer Bunnies

At As You Like It Challenge we're asking whether you prefer Spring or Summer - Summer is my favourite season; the long light days, the warmth of the sun and the garden looking its best (well, the best it is ever going to look!).  I've made a summery themed oversized gift tag for today's creation, featuring some cute LOTV bunnies sitting on a toadstool, and added lots of flowers, both on the papers and the embellishments.

Water-coloured on Langton Watercolour paper with Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers:

  • Fur: Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Tattered Rose, Tea Dye

A well used brush is a good thing

I love this little meecie holding his paintbrush. He's a lot dinkier than I thought he was going to be, and the sentiment text is miniscule, but he's perfect for a little note card.  I've doodled around the edge of my image panel and framed him with some plaid papers in matching colours.  For a bit of added interest, I've rounded the corners of my card.

Water-coloured on Langton Watercolour paper with Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers:

  • Mouse: Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Tattered Rose, Tea Dye

Bella Bear Bee

I really love making these oversized gift tags. They're made using a layered die from Crealies and are fabulous for adding to a gift, or making into a tri-fold card too. I've used Bella Bear Bee Costume along with some papers from Lady Bug Love Paper Heaven 2 and Lady Bug Love Paper Heaven 3.  I've stenciled in some background using Distressed Trellis and Antique Linen ink.

Water-coloured on Langton Watercolour paper with Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers:

  • Oranges: Fossilised Amber, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge

LOTV on The Craft Store (Hochanda)

You may have seen on Facebook that LOTV are going to be on The Craft Store on Wednesday at 9am and 1pm (although you can watch it on catch-up via their website afterwards).  I've made a few samples that you may see on the telly, including today's card featuring Lick Of Paint.  I'm really hoping I get to see it on TV!

I've kept the design very simple, and have used this layout before, including the text, which is typed and printed in very pale grey, and then I ink over it with the same colour as I've used for my image, including the little dribbles.

The font is a freebie called 'Take Warning' but you could use any font you like and add random dribbles in the same way by flicking lines down from the lettering.  I like how the wording looks with his messy painting style (I hope he's going to clear up after himself as I'm not sure he'll get much repeat business or customer recommendations if he leaves all that paint on the floor)

Update: Here is my little laddie on the TV!!!!!

Notecards

I made these little notecards a while ago as a present, but I don't think I've shared them yet.  I made them in different colours, and made matching envelopes, and a little pouch for them to sit in.

Easter Teddy

My final Easter card for this year isn't very traditional, but I'm hoping it is a little more masculine as it's for my brother-in-law, so I've left out the embelishments!  At As You Like It Challenge today we're asking if you prefer stencils or embossing.  Although I do love the effect created by embossing folders, I don't seem to use the few that I have very often, but I do like creating background scenes for my images, which is easy to do with a stencil.

Water-coloured on Langton Watercolour paper with Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers:

  • Fur: Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs
  • Grass: Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss
  • Wheelbarrow: Frayed Burlap, Walnut Stain, Bundled Sage, Forest Moss

Cuddles

Today's Polkadoodles Digi Choosday card has a gate-fold flap on the front which opens to reveal a little hidden message. The flaps can be tucked under the flower petals on the front so they remain in place until they're opened.  I've used Friendly Cuddles for my main image, papers from the Eden Paper Heaven 1 set and a sentiment from the Winnie Sunshine Delights sentiment bundle.

  • Puppy: Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Walnut Stain

You're Amazing

I'm on a mini-mission to make some 'just because' cards, not for a specific occasion, like birthday, but just to tell someone I'm thinking of them and am popping into their thoughts to say 'Hi'.  This one uses a sweet image that I've not inked up for a while, so I have watercoloured it and kept the layout simple with a stamped/die cut combo sentiment and little layering.

Water-coloured on Langton Watercolour paper with Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers:

  • Meecies: APumice Stone, Hickory Smoke, Black Soot, Tattered Rose, Tea Dye

Easter Bunny

We're looking for Springtime animals this week at As You Like It Challenge.  Although I love little lambs bouncing around in the fields, it's got to be the cute and fluffy bunny for my favourite Springtime animal. I love their cute floppy ears, especially this sweet little Thumper clutching his chocolate egg from Lili of the Valley.

Water-coloured on Langton Watercolour paper with Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers:

  • Fur: Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Tattered Rose, Tea Dye
  • Grass: Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss

Easter Bunny Trio

For today's new launch at Lili of the Valley I've made a trio of bouncing bunny Easter cards.

Each card is shaped like an Easter Egg and I've decorated them to make a set, althouh in reality they're going to be sent to different people, so no-one other than me (and you!) will know that!

I'm not sure that I can pick a favourite. I love little bunnies anyway, but these are really sweet.  I've used sentiments from the Spring Mix set and a sunshine die to finish them off.

Water-coloured on Langton Watercolour paper with Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers:

  • Browns: Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo
  • Face/Belly: Tattered Rose, Tea Dye
  • Tail: Pumice Stone
